The World Championship is a half-assed tournament that is driven by what NHL teams don't make the playoffs or get bounced early. It has no bearing on anything as far as the USMNT. The real issue here is that the NHL screwed up royally for 8.5 years by not having a true best on best tournament.

My kids don't play hockey despite my life being shaped by the sport. The number one reason is cost. We didn't want to be hockey poor. A household with 2 Masters degrees and it really isn't feasible/reasonable

In a lot of ways Mike Lange was like another Pittsburgh icon, Mr Rogers. He was a teacher. He taught hockey to a region who was new to the sport and he accomplished that teaching by being interesting and entertaining Most of all he was empathetic and kind per everyone who met him What a legacy
