I think now more than ever its important to encourage anyone of marginalized experience to indulge themselves creatively. art making, storytelling, etc. have always been the places where we have thrived and found community. it's never too late to build a world, make a character, write a poem. do it.

For anyone confused on why this might make artists uncomfortable, here's an explanation! It can make them feel like... -their OC is derivative/copied (or that a story took their ideas, which does happen!) -they poorly represent their own OC if the compared character is nothing like them

Seriously, creative folks: Don't be afraid to let people know your stuff is out there for them, or worry that "now is not the time for that." People are stressed and freaked out and looking for the things that will give them a moment of rest and joy. It is EXACTLY the time for what we do. Tell them.
