In the current US leadership Vance is the evil of two lessers

I felt that surge of Stretford End disappointment in Evesham. Well done #Fulham #FACup

A little voice whispers in my ear during the Offertory Hymn ‘Trump would hate this one’. It was ‘For the Healing of the Nations’#CofE

I have a shoulder injury that makes reading the FT very problematic. Other inconveniences are available

Today’s international environment is peak politics and negotiation – being asked by a journalist to reveal your negotiating stance is not going to get an answer, nor should it. Wes Streeting was impressive over many topics on #BBCr4Today

Today’s litter pick a big win for #Heineken with @redbull.com second and not enough wings to reach a bin. Sad to find two race flags from some sort of vehicle

#MessyChurch had crumble and there’s left-overs. Result #CofE

When a speaker says ‘Any questions’ it is rare to find anyone who can do that well. If you have a question try to get it into one sentence. If you have asked for questions, collect a few before answering any #PublicSpeaking #QuestionTime

As a fan of lower league football I find joy in the programme articles where enthusiasm gets the better of style. This one is a classic. 104 word opening sentence and then your heels get snapped at while your foot is on the gas

Another solid home performance where ruthless finishing turned a win into a thrashing @eveshamunitedfc.bsky.social 5 @larkhallafc.bsky.social 0

The ultrasound waiting room is a contender for the most-laminated-notices-on-wall award. All four walls and two pillars are postered

Warwick Hospital has one of those systems where you have to wave your arms while sitting on the toilet or the lights go out

We watched Russia invade #Ukraine on TV, live. The cameras were ready because Putin had recently said he was not going to do it. Then he did. His convoy to Kiev was stopped and driven back. I understood how disinformation was important in WW2. It is odd experiencing it first hand

One of the joys of later life is learning the names of things when they stop working. Having a scan on a cuff rotator injury tomorrow

Finally got my car back five weeks after a deer rearranged the front. Took three weeks to get a radiator from manufacturer

Celebrity Hunted is a great fund-raiser for Stand Up To Cancer but some of the celebs are really not too bright

My life a tune at a time reaches number 32 and the band Sunshine, who nobody else has heard of unless I’ve got to them: substack.com/@s1eve/note/...

He who chucks his red carrots into the potato water to save energy often ends up with pink mash #Riverford #IdiotChef #Veggies

Nice local walk between A46 and the Avon in new nature reserve

@eveshamunitedfc.bsky.social Drizzle, cold, cut up pitch, dogged defending, not much class up front apart from one sharp finish 1-0 HT

#Safeguarding question: If an independent safeguarding body contains members of the #CofE are they independent? If they are Christians are they independent? If they are members of any faith community are they independent?

‘We got that bit lawyered.’ #BBCr4today ‘A perfectly acceptable noun pressed into use as a verb.’ Brian Redhead

Jigsaw and book sale at our church tomorrow facebook.com/events/s/boo... #Evesham #Harvington

Loving this live Steely Dan gig from nearly twenty years ago. I had tickets to see them in 1976 and they cancelled. youtu.be/AXCCzoc3-xM?...

In the ‘Thank you for stopping hitting me’ school of good news #BT have been very good at identifying a fault, sending a nice guy to fix it and doubling our Broadband speed. And #EE sent us a new temporary hub within 24 hours.

How did you find out how easy it was to bring illegal meat into this country? I watched #Countryfile

Great moment today when an experienced reader said ‘…and the fervour of the Lord was on him’ instead of favour. He knew immediately what he had done. I liked it and wished I had been preaching #CofE #PresentationOfTheLord

Great birthday lunch with #UmargaMusic at www.marmo.restaurant #Brizzle

Lovely to be back in the comforting atmosphere of #Watershed #Brizzle

And then there are the multi-stories where the fluorescent lighting is so badly placed and so bright that you cannot actually read anything on the meter machine. Exeter I'm looking at you.

Bought some brownies from St Nic’s Market that smell so good I’ve invented the word intoxicaking #Brizzle

A very niche skill in the 21st century is working out which car park button is which from the amount of fade. ‘For fee step change press the (used to be) yellow button.’

Nice to have lunch at The Old Palace today with the other #retiredclergy of Worcester Diocese #CofE

Pub reading📚 💙

The average age in the pub today is almost deceased. Guy is arguing about his bill (which is correct). Stage whisper from regular ‘Some people give us old folks a bad name .’

Can anyone convince me I should try harder to like #muffins? I always find them dry and cloying

There must be a better way to run hospital departments than to have so many notices stuck to the wall

There was a definite temperature drop as I walked into church this morning. When I invited people to share the peace I suggested this might be to warm their hands up #CofE

Hard fought win today for @eveshamunitedfc.bsky.social after going 2-0 up first half against second-to-bottom Thatcham who scrapped for everything. At the end we hung on for 2-1. If Thatcham get a keeper who can kick they’ll escape relegation #NationalLeague

I’ve been telling my life story one tune at a time. Here’s episode 29 and how I avoided addiction: substack.com/@s1eve/note/...

Called doctors on Weds at 9.30. Got appointment for 10.30 same day. Saw doctor on time. Got prescription which was available at Health Centre pharmacy as I left. Also was recommended an X-ray which has just been fixed for next Monday at 4.45. Impressed. #NHS
