I'm curious about whether we could crowdsource authors here. What if I want to set up an article coauthored by different experts? E.g. an economist, a microbiologist & a medical historian walked into a bar, and wrote about how to speed up antibiotic drug discovery. Would people be up for that?

Some of you are better editors than you are writers and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. You've spent a lifetime developing your taste through reading and watching films & TV - you know what's good and what's shit. Trust that superpower when you edit. End result is ultimately the same.
