Trump thinks Ukraine owes the US a substantial slice of its vast mineral resources in exchange for military support during Kyiv's war with Russia. Ukrainian Pres Zelensky has rejected Trump's demands. BBC's Analysis Editor Ros Atkins looks at what the US President wants+whether he's likely to get it

Taking a break from BlueSky - if X was toxic and stressful Blue Sky is becoming a self righteous echo-chamber, though there are a few sensible voices here for sure. Will just quietly follow and not engage for fear of being maligned or marginalized for slightly nuanced views from orthodoxy

Important effort! Hope to be there in DC for this

Wondering if there is any pathway for sensible conversation between Musk and @michaelemann.bsky.social and other on science funding given the Penn alumni connection for Musk and Trump?

How can we aim for #sciencediplomacy in the current political climate? Any hope ? Some thoughts following today’s report release from @aaas.org and @royalsociety.org cc: @deepseadawn.bsky.social www.forbes.com/sites/saleem...

The Trump Executive Order on the World Health Organization prompted me to write this piece to hopefully drive some common-sense consensus on understanding viruses www.forbes.com/sites/saleem...

Why is @billgatess.bsky.social silent on US withdrawal from @who.int - Gates gave $800 million to WHO in 2022-23. World's richest country can spend $500 billion on foreign wars per year and can't spend $500 million (0.1 % of that) to help eradicate diseases? Is this "American Greatness"?

This highlighted text quotation from Carl Sagan's phenomenal book The Demon Haunted World was so prescient in 1995 cc: @jenbiddle.bsky.social @petergleick.bsky.social

Withdrawal from WHO is probably worst of Trump's litany of executive orders. However, I am confident this will not actually happen as he hinted towards the end of his pronouncement. Likely a bargaining shock treatment. The tech tycoons know the value of WHO and will likely convince him otherwise.

The provocative statements from Trump on #Greenland prompted me to write this article following recent fieldwork there on an NSF project cc: @petergleick.bsky.social @katharinehayhoe.com www.forbes.com/sites/saleem...

Trump’s assertion that #Greenland must become part of USA is enormously insulting to the Greenlanders but less so to Denmark even though they might show superficial indignation. We are doing a major NSF project on mining / infrastructure impacts there - stay tuned for more

At #GEFCouncil68, the Global Environment Facility announced $99.8 million in funding for @unep.org to address some of our most pressing environmental challenges. This funding will not only help protect the environment, but also support communities around the world. www.unep.org/gef/news-and...
