Tremendous fun to talk to @benansell.bsky.social for this episode, all the more so given it was alongside @himself.bsky.social and @abenewman.bsky.social whose book Underground Empire is just fascinating. Have a listen. If you find my voice as irritating as I do you can always skip those bits👇

This is a fascinating and lovely story. We have all the catastrophists making stuff up about Santorini and Campi Flegrei from thousands of miles away, but here we have cheerful volcano tourists!

We are all concerned about Ukraine and how many armaments Europe has - but please listen to this (I imagine it was presciently made some weeks ago). There are so many more credible global worries described here if we are facing a maverick US administration.

If you want to be further terrified by the prospect of Trump's US going on the offensive, try this for size.

Oh, #Newsnight is going to give us Trump live (when the music stops). I can't wait.

There is a senior foreign affairs guy at the BBC (UK) called Jeremy Bowen. He's solid. It's a pity he isn't here on Bluesky, but he's all over BBC Radio and TV News, so he probably hasn't got time.

I haven't seen any mention of these Chinese Warships elsewhere?

@borisetneo.bsky.social Sorry to be cheeky, but could you help me with a translation of "dicchi" in this context "Gli sciami sismici potrebbero essere indicatori di particolari attività sui vulcani come la risalita di fluidi o magma o l’ intrusione di dicchi" from www.ov.ingv.it/index.php/ne...

Latest pirouette by M5S's Giuseppe Conte is to turn into a fan of one Donald Trump to secure his own position as the "owner" of the Ukraine-skeptic camp in Italy. www.ansa.it//english/new...
