SENIOR adviser? Fucking hell, he looks like he still loves gummi worms and rides a Little Tike.

I liked the chap on BBC #Newsnight this evening defending Harvard, and his comments on the absurdity of the'antisemitism' accusations seemed necessary. I wonder about my own hatred of the biumvirate of Trump & Netenyahu, and the whole definition of being an antisemite.

Tonight's BBC Radio4 about the 'commercialisation' of veterinary practices rather skipped the issue of 'pet insurance'. Without the 'insurance' the opportunity to exploit is absent. Surely there is a message here for the advocates of a privately insured human health service? #NHS

I think this is my favourite idiocy, although the strung up bacon is a close second. (From an account well worth a peek at every so often!)

If the company Jingye is a baddie, and if all Chinese businesses are ultimately 'controlled' by the Chinese government, isn't there space for a diplomatic chat with that government on the supplies for Scunthorpe steelworks?

Consensus opinion has it that Trump's administration are maniacs. Crazy tariff calculations in the spotlight currently, but the deportations and thought policing are perhaps more illustrative of the innate cruelty and vengeance of their mindset. There is no off-ramp for the US. They're fucked.

You thought you had seedlings? #gardening #cat

Very good piece, and an important observation about the enduring belief that "the standard diplomatic manuals ... can still work". A number of sensible well meaning commentators are falling into this trap.
