🇺🇦 Ukraine has liberated Kotlyne village, 10km west of Pokrovsk. Now is a good time to also read that news and not just listen to the noise coming from Washington. kyivindependent.com/ukrainian-fo...

Fair Or Not, Churchill’s “Never Surrender” Rhetoric Is Angering Hitler. Is His Style Hurting Britain?

NEW: Macron has to interrupt Trump and correct a lie about Europe’s contribution. TRUMP: “Europe is loaning the money to Ukraine. They get their money back." MACRON: “No. We provided real money. To be clear.” Trump clearly not used to get fact-checked live.

Slava Ukraini! 🇺🇦 (Photo @justinng.bsky.social - 2022)

On the 3rd anniversary of Russia’s brutal invasion, Europe is in Kyiv. We are in Kyiv today, because Ukraine is Europe. In this fight for survival, it is not only the destiny of Ukraine that is at stake. It’s Europe’s destiny.

They may want Berlin 1933 But we can make it Paris 1789

The trouble is, once I started imagining they were taking selfies I couldn’t unsee it

Wasn’t expecting this in a little historic church we popped into. 👀 😂

Due to the layoffs I am afraid that we have had to take over the running of the US National Parks. We are updating the park regulations but for now the most important thing people can do before visiting a national park is to marinade themselves for 12 hours in olive oil, lime juice & garlic.

👋👋 Since there’s a lot of talk from Trump about how “Europe has not really carried its weight in terms of the money” for Ukraine, let’s just share some facts. Right from the beginning, *Europe has provided *more* aid to Ukraine than the United States* 1/2

The Indigenous People of North America have decided to go back to calling the Gulf of Mexico, “Chalchiuhtlicueyecatl”. It is what the Nahuatl People originally called it as it is the domain of the goddess Chalchiuhtlicue, who is assoc w/water bodies, including the Gulf of Mexico.

A reminder: Vladimir Putin could end the war in Ukraine right now, just by ordering his soldiers to go home. No need for treaties or negotiations.

What Europe would have looked like if we had frozen the borders 3 years into WW2 because we just needed to stop the fighting.

I think he's bonkers too but I'm not sure the Telegraph should be describing their own writers like this.

BREAKING: The largest pension fund in Europe sells all its Tesla stock, and advises other firms to divest from Elon Musk's companies… Suck on it, Muskrat! 😂

Denying refugees citizenship simply on the grounds that they arrived here “illegally” on small boats *when there are no legal routes* for most to use takes cynicism to new heights. If Govt thinks such performative cruelty will see off Reform, they’re wrong - it’s more likely to strengthen it

What you are seeing this morning over the refugee decision is Labour alienating and offending its remaining liberal supporters without bringing any new voters onside.

Danish activists have a petition to buy California from the US for $1 trillion. 200,000 signatures so far. That big theme park there would be renamed Hans Christian Andersenland.

Witnessing Labour trying to mimic Reform with migrant raid videos is sickening & will simply reinforce Reform’s messages. Just months after race riots, it also risks encouraging further animosity. We need safe & legal routes for asylum seekers, not boasts about which party can be cruellest

What is Labour thinking on immigration? youtu.be/mhu42XHzecs

Starmer to lighten the penalties in the Online Safety Act because Trump and the tech bros don't like them? Rule 1: Do not obey in advance From On Tyranny, by Timothy Snyder #r4today

And the 🧵 leading up to this. I do not understand why supposedly left-wing government with large majority is letting Farage dictate the agenda to such an extent and focusing on his supporters, rather than on rest of us who contributed to them being in power (but won’t be so ready to next time) 😬

Saw this on Facebook yesterday and definitely resonates. Maybe it will feel easier when it's less cold and grey outside.

Last Thursday I met with the great-great-great-granddaughter of the 18th century Hamburg merchant whose letter archive I found over 10 years ago - a very special moment for Jane Luetkens and me. Letters are not just old paper. They are full of life and family history #earlymodern #history 🗃️

Ooo this is a good one ☺️

The Papua New Guinea Courier is in rare form.

So much evil in one photo it is actually staggering

PITCH: An updated version of the curse of Cassandra where she's describing things that are happening now, in front of everyone, but still isn't believed.

Pretty much.
