Holy moly this looks amazing

NEH introduces new prohibited categories to comply with executive orders. This is an infringement of academic freedom plain and simple, and also nonsense: what is “discriminatory equity ideology”

I can't quite believe I'm saying this but: I wrote a book! And it's being published this May! It's about Rome, its enduring appeal, the many different ways it has been interpreted, and how understanding this helps us see both the past and the world today more clearly. geni.us/AllRoadsLead...

Musk used donations to the Vesuvius challenge to gain access to young AI experts. No “donation” he ever makes is without an ulterior motive. Now one of the winners works alongside him to high jack government finances. This is a tainted project & I will no longer report on it with Musk involved.

For #BlackHistoryMonth this year, I’m going to be posting daily about: representations of blackness in Greco-Roman antiquity, the history of scholarship by Black classicists, and the history of Africana receptions using the hashtag #AncientBlackness. Join me.

I will not post much on this topic, but I'm the Head of Ancient History and Religion at Cardiff University. Our staff and students are nothing short of amazing. Those who know me will know that I'm doing all I can.

Please sign and share this student-led petition to save Ancient History here at Cardiff University www.change.org/p/save-cardi...

This is a national scandal. When will the government wake up and realise they are presiding over the rapid implosion of the UK's world-renowned university sector?

No one’s job should be at risk, and no departments at risk of closure, but to reiterate Liz’s point - Cardiff’s AH department is full of phenomenal people. Full solidarity with Cardiff colleagues - we’re with you all the way

Oh, swears, ancient history is on here. The AH team at Cardiff are *amazing*, top of their field academics. It's one small part of a massive proposed butchering of the institution, after on-going cuts and horrors. I shall be waiting to see what support they think will be most beneficial.

Having thought a bit about Rome and Fascism, and benefited greatly from Martin Winkler's amazing 2009 book "The Roman Salute", I thought I would wade in... tl;dr read Winkler's book theconversation.com/elon-musk-an...

Very sad to hear about Sharon James’ passing. I had the pleasure of meeting her a few times and knew her as a warm, supportive, and comradely scholar. I remember her paying for UNC PhD students to take us KCL PhD students to see Sorry to Bother You - something for which I will forever be grateful.
