I am trapped in St Helens. Replacement bus showing up as being in one hour. My narcolepsy meds start to be unreliable in about ten minutes.

Since I got my new glasses, both with the varifocals and the readers, when I watch someone doing face-to-camera on the TV, my depth perception goes weird sometimes. Like it looks like someone's head has been recorded separately and stuck on to the video, like it isn't really attached to their body.

I really wish that celebs and major institutional users (like media, government etc) - and, frankly, anyone else in a position to - actually used domain verification on Bluesky. Always feel a sense of doubt if accounts are really what they claim to be if they haven't.

Knowing that the reason one has exaggerated emotional reactions is emotional dysregulation/lability due to #ADHD doesn't actually help deal with them as much as one might hope. Easier to be kind to yourself about it, but the emotions are still there.

Really sad to have learned that Lisa Egan - @lisybabe.bsky.social - has died. Dedicated, passionate and also capable of being a lot of fun. Will be sorely missed.

Looking at data dispassionately, there are a number of ways that the US doesn't fit in with the global economic north. This is one of them.

I recently got my first ever pair of varifocals. Optician does free second pair (with single vision lenses) so ordered readers as well, thought it would be useful sometimes. Readers were delayed, finally got them, and my god it's better to use them if I'm doing mostly close stuff.

As a postscript... anyone know *why* every #rollator I could find on sale is wider than the one I got like ten years ago?

That last thread was quite banal, but this sort of thing is actually a significant part of the life of some of us, so, yeah. If you get it, you get it. If not, might be worth learning more about the everyday realities of being disabled.

The other week, a nut fell off my rollator. I still had the bolt and wheel, and fortunately my selection of bits at home included an appropriate sized locknut, but getting home with 3/4 wheels was interesting.

Chatted with a bloke who felt he should have moved on his wife’s death by now and be feeling Mwrry about Christmas. She only died in August 2023! If you’re finding the festive season tough due to bereavement, you’re not alone. There’s space for you here. #JoinIn

My head is too large for Christmas

This year's Christmas dinner. Not entirely happy with it. Potatoes should have been in #sousvide longer, and both the meat stuffing and the dryer stuffing have the wrong texture. But I'm not beating myself up about it. So, score one for #mentalhealth I guess.

Happy Christmas to all, and any other relevant season's greetings.

I got Whammed by the London International Horse Show #whamageddon.

I'm beginning to suspect that entryists attempting to disrupt Bluesky as a place for liberal/left wing/just generally chill people by use of blocklists that appear to be sincere are being fairly successful and bizarrely inclusive. Some of the ones I'm on are just bizarre.

I wonder if many Americans have been served a British corned beef sandwich without being told what "corned beef" is over here, and how they felt about what they received?

Red wine triggers both my migraines and IBS. Which puts a bit of a crimp in some cooking. Finally found a simple substitute! A bit sweet, which will be a problem in some recipes, but easy to do. White wine and pomegranate molasses. Still working on ratios. (Don't drink it, though)
