This is the most wretched campaign of deliberate, explicit persecution the United States has perpetrated against a minority group in decades. Many of the most important people in politics and journalism are busying themselves trying to figure out how little to say or do about it.

After all that Marko Elez was the first taker on the resignation program.

Remember when Trump called for "termination" of the Constitution in 2022? The New York Times played it on Page 13. Now that Trump's "termination" is happening, I wonder if the Times' editors have any regrets for years of normalization and "both sides" framing that comforted the would-be dictator.

if I understand American politics correctly, progressivism is something that requires 60 senate votes to work, while national conservatism doesn’t require any votes at all

Are the next 4 years really going to be logging on everyday to sentences like "a 19 year old doge intern called Big Balls has your social security number" because I'm already at capacity for this sort of thing

all hail the drizz

Today is the day Donald Trump became president

This is pretty clear pattern at this point. There's now a waiver/exception/misunderstanding for each bad news story.

Karoline Leavitt: "DOGE and OMB also found that there was about to be 50 million taxpayer dollars that went out the door to fund condoms in Gaza. That is a preposterous waste of taxpayer dollars."

Yglesias and Smith use that word because they are eugenics-curious, or more than eugenics-curious. It isn't just some sort of contrarian shock value. (it never is). They use it because it embodies an ideology of contempt for the disabled that they like and want to promote.

There's obeying in advance and then there's whatever this is.

in retrospect which do you think is the graver, more unforgivable sin: leaking the Dobbs opinion or building an entire life atop a mountain of theft and fraud

If I'm Chair, the DNC will begin an audit of existing consulting contracts on Day One. We will root out conflicts of interest, prioritize impact instead of commissions, and ensure all spending aligns with our values and mission. Spend to win. No grift.

People thought Trump hadn’t learned or grown after the terrible events of January 2021. But this week has made clear that he’s now committed to the peaceful transfer of power.

Hate to spoil the storyline. But does the Times understand how northern migration to red states tends to make them bluer, like Georgia and Arizona?

Bashar al-Assad’s biggest mistake? Not going on Joe Rogan.

For the record, it’s absurd that we are being thrust into four more years with a depraved sociopath in the Oval Office of the country that I love.
