The thing with Gary Neville that has been abundantly clear for a long time is that he’s a busy guy and he just doesn’t watch football anymore. The only games he watches are the ones he works on, which is why he transitioned to lazy, narrative based analysis. He should hire a researcher.

Seeing some very familiar patterns in how people (and prominent media people) have been talking about Lewis-Skelly recently. I’m reminded of the narrative around Sterling, Pogba, Rashford and why they needed to stay in their lanes, be humble. I wonder what they all have in common.

Your Joke is Factually Incorrect: A Guide to Dying Alone

Every tech guy wants to introduce something game-changing like the smart phone and all they got is "office meetings with a pair of giant goggles strapped to your head" or "chatbot that can't spell strawberry" and they're going to destroy society if we don't pretend these are necessary to our lives

I've built a machine that can be Confidently Wrong. It can also make pictures that all look a bit the same, as well as make a video of you kissing any celebrity or person you know. In payment, I'd like to boil the world's oceans dry, & steal all literature. For some reason, my head is not on a spike

I see people saying “you mustn’t look away”, but what do you gain by watching the fascists and bigots over and over again - you can fight for a better world without constantly staring at the brutality - it is not a dereliction of duty to miss some of the Nazi salutes

as a child I would not have flinched had the coyote torn a river of wet innards from the center of that loathsome roadrunner as the price for his hubris

It is really quite vitally important that people with Treasury Brain are kept very far away from any decisions being made about the economy for the foreseeable future. It's like an anti-expertise, a specialism in being Fucking Wrong.

🔥 New long-read is up. A big investigation into the different styles, speeds, and stats of Slot's Liverpool and Arteta's Arsenal — with a specific focus on how the teams generate conditions for attack

social media norm of 'this is very offensive so im going to spend all day sharing it to as many people as possible' always so good. especially the implication that if you don't do this you actually love the offensive thing and the more you share it the more you prove you dislike it.

I wrote about the reaction to the shooting of a CEO. "It seems to me that when you create a world where human life has been made as cheap as possible, you will eventually find you live in a world where your human life is deemed by others to be cheap, too." www.the-reframe.com/peaceful-sol...

“Wallace building those trousers for his dog? Just so he doesn’t have to walk him? It’s lazy, he got that dog in good faith, he should walk him - it’s his job!”

You'd be embarrassed if an unders 7s team conceded that third goal

Lol, Spurs are absolutely horrid

Liverpool v Spurs - unstoppable force meets highly moveable, obligingly pliable object

“You can tell him, he’s still got to go to Endor and get something. And, honestly, I will love it if we beat them. Love it.”

The SANTA PLEASE STOP HERE signs really annoy me. Guys, he’s done the list, he’s packed the gear. This is a guy who lives and breathes logistics. Too late for this bullshit

City holding out on sacking Pep until Gary O’Neil became available, sensible

@philcosta.bsky.social Pour one out for your boy Gary. Gone but not forgotten

judge: swear them in bailiff: ok get the fuck in there guys

Every corner Arsenal have had has created a fire drill in the United defence

Starter packs are good to get people into the basic mechanics of Bluesky, but we really need Expansion packs with some of the more specialist Posters so people can really appreciate the tactical variety the app has to offer.

Apropos of nothing. Oasis disbanded the season before Man City ended a 35-year wait for a major trophy and they reformed earlier this season.

This game

If this keeps going like this, Liverpool are getting 6

It's started....

Supporters' groups should have a similar role at football clubs to the one trade unions have in the capitalist workplace. Fan groups holding owners to account, pushing for fair ticket prices, etc., and a say in key club matters at cultural and community levels.
