Very happy to have played trumpet on a movie score. One of those little things to tick off. Starring Johnny Vegas, this is out in cinemas now. Listen out for the little snippets of mariachi 🤠🎺🍝

A lot of fun recording trumpets on this retro style jingle for BBC Radio 4 (by Paul Farrer). A variety of timbres & different cup mutes used, played into a Coles 4038 (aptly of 1950s BBC design) 🎺🎙️

all the things needed to be a great musician begin with T Taste Truthfulness Tone Time Tuning Technique (pretty much in that order of importance too, I reckon)

‘Embers’ by James Arthur is out today. I did the horns. A beautiful song that I tried to compliment with a french horn quartet. ❤️📯

Today I got asked if I prefer studio > live stuff studio - craft, graft, creativity, sculpture live shows / touring - joy, fun, social, connection each list can overlap both mind-blowingly rewarding both can be fatiguing/tedious online I focus on the one thing I feel I can half control (studio)

..and here is some more… less soft, more banging 🎺🎷🦴

Good morning people of this website. Absolutely knackered here, but frying some eggs in the oil of some chorizo I just fried, so… all good. Whats everyone up to today? I’m making a brass sample pack, writing a brass arrangement for a pop star & teaching some kids how to play the trumpet.

flugel stacks. Playing super soft with an airy, subtone-ish sound, into a Coles 4038. Adding the odd layer of loud trumpet at a distance from & pointing away from the mic.

Everything turned on & firing on all cylinders 🚀

…..recorded all of the things today

About as succinct as it gets

Another session for a media / tv composer, another immediate payment on the day. You lot are the best! 📺🎬🎮

Morning everybody! 1st time since joining here that I’m every day this week getting female bots following me. Is this site going down the pan?

I think this is one of the most powerful songs of all time. This album, released in 1989, was a major soundtrack to my childhood car journeys (thanks Dad). I was doing a bit of trumpet practice but after a beer I just decided to do this instead 🎺📯🦴 I Wish It Would Rain Down - Phil Collins
