Hours ago, @politico.com revealed that DOGE is working with DHS on automating mass deportation efforts — likely explaining why many US citizens, green card holders, and even a Canadian (in Canada) got threatening emails last night terminating “your parole” and telling them to leave the US in 7 days.

📣BREAKING📣: Harvard's AAUP chapter & the nat'l AAUP just jointly filed lawsuit to block the Trump administration from demanding that HU restrict speech and restructure its core operations or else face the cancellation of $8.7 billion in federal funding for the university.

Update: I just listened to the audio of this. Trump: “If the Supreme Court said bring somebody back, I would do that. I respect the Supreme Court.” Reporter: And the lower court as well…? Trump: “Oh no, no. I’m not talking about the lower court. I have great respect for the Supreme Court.”

The threads about declining US power strike me as incredibly premature. That is not current reality. It may become reality, but it isn't currently relevant.

We are in Hell.

Not sure about that but I appreciate this video

Jesus Christ

Amid all the horrific things that are happening, the state run media spectacle is incredibly and increasingly creepy

BREAKING: An immigration court determined our client Mahmoud Khalil to be removable from the U.S. based solely on his political speech. The fight isn't over — we'll keep fighting for Mahmoud's freedom and all of our First Amendment rights in federal court.

Genuinely want to know how people think this makes sense within the actual concept of comparative advantage! (It definitely is present in political/economic discourse)

I realize this is over Donald Trump's head, but killing foreign tourism will increase the trade deficit.

"The two-page memo, which was obtained by The Associated Press, does not allege any criminal conduct by Khalil" "Rather, Rubio wrote Khalil could be expelled for his beliefs." Free this man immediately. apnews.com/article/mahm...

Some truly, unambiguously good news about a critical matter. And this has resulted from the relatively least powerful actors in the chain (individual clinical profs) pushing back! Just imagine if some of the more powerful actors could find the same courage and energy! www.wbez.org/education/20...

"Cheap labor is a comparative advantage" is conceptually incoherent (put aside morals); change my mind!

Even with limitations (i.e., who's missing), this is wonderful to see.

Good to see Rutgers and Georgetown supporting this effort. Lots of liberal arts colleges and Catholic universities. Ivies remain AWOL. Embarrassing.

Today, a group of legal scholars explain how universities are being weaponized against their own members through allegations of “support for” or “alignment with” terrorism. Universities must prepare for this, and refuse to operate on the basis of fear rather than legal necessity or moral principle.

“Nathan Tankus has a new post explaining why we were and continue to be vulnerable to a new crisis. He explains why the Rose Garden announcement may have been a new tariff-induced “Lehman moment” for the financial system”

Amazing how much he still has it at 83. (And we desperately need a successor)

I wish more people were talking about the prominent Prof from Indiana whose home was raided by the FBI, was fired (with tenure) and scrubbed from the University's website, and then disappeared like he never existed. #notnormal

An immigration judge on Tuesday gave the U.S. government a day to show its evidence that Columbia University student Mahmoud Khalil should be deported and said she would rule on the government's case on Friday. "If he's not removable, I'm going to be terminating this case on Friday"

It is undoubtedly true that the Administration is engaging in a shock & awe campaign through daily injustices to disable our feelings possibility & hope. But, in fact, this is backfiring. They are politicizing people, enraging them, and bringing us together in ways I didn’t think possible.

Georgetown scholar Dr. Khan Suri, who was abducted by ICE, was refused food/water to break Ramadan fast, housed in a room without a bed, and issued *used* underwear. His child cried for days after he was taken and has since stopped speaking. ccrjustice.org/home/press-c...

Probably just a slightly pessimistic mood but this lovely passage actually makes me sad: Keynes was historically brilliant but this is also just obviously true. We needed someone with his level of brilliance *not because the true ideas are complicated but because the false ones are*

Deeply concerning: US citizen lawyer getting detained and his phone searched on reentering the U.S. at Customs. www.freep.com/story/news/l...

Look at this!! This is amazing!

Best thing written on this crisis so far, knitting together the critical political legal and strategic issues -- by my colleague @sbagen.bsky.social , @ryandoerfler.bsky.social + David Pozen www.thenation.com/article/soci...

You can now go to the NYT and scroll the entire page and never know that anyone protested yesterday.

we’re gonna have Ackman doing land acknowledgments by May at this rate

In 3 sessions, S&P 500 futures have plunged about 15%. Legit market crash

It truly makes no sense at all.

Remember when Rafah was the US government's red line? (That was a long time ago.) Anyway, it's gone now. It is so insane that US policy carries on supporting this, and that mainstream US institutions pretend this is normal. x.com/DropSiteNews...

Fairly undeniable at this point that abolish ICE was always the only reasonable position
