Pray for the Pope.

George Zimmerman and Kyle Rittenhouse are walking free! They're doing fucking speaking tours!

ICPSR at University of Michigan has been one of the longest-running secure data archives in the world and is stepping up to the challenges being presented in the current U.S. environment to keep government data as a resource for researchers and policymakers. isr.umich.edu/giving/suppo...

PBS Newshour gave a twelve minute interview to Daily Wire host Michael Knowles, who has called for the “eradication” of trans people from society

Being a Black person and being a woman makes a person DEI, apparently. Not a DEI hire, but DEI itself. Per the NYT.

In modern history, what is the least popular that party leaders have ever been to their OWN voters? Second place was the GOP in 2009, where their net approval with Republican voters was only +6. Currently Dems are -8, shattering all previous records.

This is horrible for the future of American science and innovation and economic wellbeing and all the things Pitt is not a small institution It has nearly 10K grad students It is where Salk discovered the polio vaccine

This was the moment, just over a month ago, when the ADL could've put an end to Republicans doing Nazi salutes. They didn't. They chose instead to provide cover by calling it "an awkward gesture in a moment of enthusiasm." Now the sieg heil salute has been normalized. The ADL literally had ONE JOB.

And, that racism is currently metastasizing into paralysis in the face of every other racism/other isms being embraced by the national conservative movement--explicitly including antisemitism. The moral psychology books that are going to be written about this someday [if we survive to someday]

Would like to see literally anyone address this development

There is no way this is not coordinated and intentional. Leaders of the mainstream national conservative movement are celebrating actual Hitler, publicly, and our moron institutions are shrugging, our university leaders are talking mainly about how we need more "representation" of this

It would be so cool if Luigi walked because Da Mayor thought he could suck up to a producer enough to get a biopic where he plays himself

Genuinely disgusting behavior by @washingtonpost.com Sure one has to focus on the big picture, but this level of bad behavior really undermines any attempt to (re)build a society that can resist Trumpism

Last week, I was in Jenin and Tulkarem, reporting on Israel’s ongoing operations in the refugee camps of the northern West Bank. Displaced Palestinian residents say Israel is deliberately making the camps unlivable. My report: @972mag.bsky.social www.972mag.com/jenin-tulkar...

Weird call, Mayor Bass, but okay…. Can you fire your recently-appointed, Trump-supporting, anti-immigrant LAPD Chief next? www.cnn.com/2025/02/21/u...

Federal workers launch a new site to share inside information about DOGE

As surreal as it may be to teach a class like labor law right now, it is more surreal for students, especially those who want to go into public service, labor, etc. I really admire their ability to show up for a process that is challenging in the best of times.

Jesus

I have to say, Matt Bruenig's NLRB newsletter is really useful. A real service.

Tis the season when I get requests from law reviews to review papers so may I suggest an author/paper? @rohangrey.bsky.social is one of the very sharpest people thinking about economic law/ law & econ policy (in general and for the public good), and this topic couldn't be more relevant

Same

Read chapter from Chris Desan's "Making Money" with my seminar today. Just so damn good. Also, while obviously she's very successful personally, I feel there are deep points there that almost don't get their due, given how independently valuable and careful the historical work is

In my opinion it's (d). This was a show that was fundamentally about critiquing the national security/military state (though it hedged that just enough and had enough other stuff going on to keep it submerged). It could never have survived 9/11, and to some degree degraded content wise as a result

the construction "perjure [one]self" is fundamentally odd, and i wonder/hypothesize that it is a relatively recent innovation

She absolutely could

Permitting reform was never about clean/renewable energy. It was always about this.

Could she be our Claudia Sheinbaum?
