I have seriously considered leaving Meta. But every time I do, I am reminded of the void that would emerge from leaving the Buy Nothing Facebook group.

State of the City address with Vancouver Mayor is always an interesting convo. Ken Sim weighed in on some heated topics today… #vanpoli

A heartbreaking story about the very real impact of stigma on health for those with mental disability. Will recap the thread for those without access to The Star. Highly recommend reading this article in full if you can. www.thestar.com/news/gta/a-m...

“The new study found air pollution was linked to increased risks of hospital admission for mental health, as well as physical illness.” amp.theguardian.com/environment/...

Overwhelmingly, Canadians would rather have $6.28B investment in services or reduction of the deficit. Poll found: - 66% say GST break very poor / poor idea - 51% say cheques very poor / poor idea - 43% would reduce deficit - 40% would invest in services www.theglobeandmail.com/politics/art...

Newfound life hack: after quite the week, we paid our just-certified 11 year-old a token amount to “babysit” the 9 year-old. I’m now reading in bed and he’s taking care of dinner and evening routine. Why has this never even occurred to me as an option before today?

“Mommy, I heard on the radio that someone was stabbing people at 7-eleven. Then they got shot. I am scared.” A tough conversation this morning. We all tell stories. People like exciting stories, and scary is exciting. While scary things do happen, they’re rare. We don’t need to live in fear.

"You know, you're just a paycheque away from being homeless," Kevin Desylva said.  "It's like a revolving door — you're just spinning and spinning, and you don't know how you're going to get out." www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...

Whether climate change or poisoned drugs or the housing crisis, the only way through is together. Great read from @billmckibben.bsky.social via Substack: “We’re in a mess, but together we have some chance of working our way out of it.” open.substack.com/pub/billmcki...

As someone with a non-apparent and fluctuating chronic illness, I feel this 100%. When asked about hobbies, at times I want to respond with “navigating the medical system and recuperating from doing so”.

“wraparound supports for individuals who use substances during pregnancy and postpartum are critical and need to be scaled up amid the toxic drug crisis” www.theglobeandmail.com/canada/artic...

1. Build a ton of housing 2. House those who need it

In case you needed this.

Oh FFS, just leave me alone to my Sunday chores. (For the record, I don’t want to be texted by ANY political party, please and thank you.)

Because most of us are here for the mix of cute animal vids + respectfully spicy convos

When COVID-19 hit, housing and homelessness providers were amongst those on the front lines of the response. A new piece from housing researcher Nick Falvo provides a good recap of what we learned (and didn’t) about helping those most in need: nickfalvo.ca/covid-19-and...

Some news, sharing from that other platform…

“Safe, secure, affordable housing is the bedrock of happy, healthy lives. Where we live determines so much else. Home is where we start from.”
