We have a new Technical Steering Committee (TSC)! Welcome core maintainers @ematipico.xyz @florian-lefebvre.dev and @mk.gg to the Astro TSC to guide Astro's technical direction and ensure a healthy codebase for many years to come. See thread for more details!

One of the most consistently neglected parts of today’s user experiences is our handling of errors. We’re so busy designing the happy paths through our products that we often forget to give the same care and attention to the times when things will go wrong piccalil.li/blog/how-to-...

Set sail with the latest Starlight release! βš“ Built-in heading anchor links 🌬️ Tailwind 4 support 🌊 CSS cascade layers 🌚 Improved `<head>` APIs Learn more: astro.build/blog/starlig...

In Astro 5.7, every SVG is an Astro component! Import it, use it in your page and it will be inlined in the HTML. You can even pass it any SVG props. Learn more: astro.build/blog/astro-5...

New in Astro 5.7, the Sessions API lets you store user data securely on the server, without the limitations of cookies. Great for shopping carts, user settings, form state, and lots more.

Don't send all your users' data to the broligarchs. The Astro Fonts API downloads and caches fonts so they're served from your site, not an ad company's. Better for CLS *and* GDPR.

Astro's been fine-tuning how we thank non-core contributors in our release blog posts. We now include anyone with a repo contribution since the last minor release... because that's everything that went into making *this* release happen and how we got here! This month, we added the docs repo. πŸ’ͺπŸ“šπŸŒ

Apparently, my _fontastic_ pun was so bad, it was mistaken for a typo when it came time to post. πŸ˜… Oh well, I guess you'll all just have to settle for a FANTASTIC Astro release today.

Go! Go! Sitting at #1! I can't thank @scrimba.bsky.social enough for, well, EVERYTHING. I just wanted to learn how to fix my choir site; look at me now! Their courses are amazing, and what I learned there led me to @astro.build. And to think, now they can actually support an ASTRO course...Hmm...

Shout out to all our theme authors who contribute such amazing, quality content... and then wait patiently for me to approve their listings and publish to the @astro.build catalogue. πŸ˜… My only regret as I review each and every theme is that I can't possibly make that many websites...

To start the week, we're celebrating a milestone: 500 themes in the Astro theme catalogue! With an Astro theme, you can have your own corner of the web in minutes ⏱ Professional? Fun? Minimal? Which theme will you choose for your next project? astro.build/themes/

Weekend tinkering: Discovered that eBird helpfully uses its species codes to form each bird page's URL. So, updating my bird app with links to bird info, and to the location of the observation in Google Maps. (Also seems I should tag my Flickr photos with their species code!) #birding

I asked Joe what happens now, and he said, "Now, you are free."

Themes are SUCH an important part of our ecosystem! I get SO excited seeing our themes used "in the wild" like, yeah, you can just do that. Shout out to all our @astro.build theme authors, who make it ridiculously quick to claim your corner of the web: astro.build/themes (And check out the pod!)

So, Google rebranded my online dev environment (Project IDX) to Firebase Studio. I'm still gonna call it Picasa...

Starlight v0.33 is heading your way 🀯 Our latest release includes more flexible <head> and social link configuration, a fancy new close button in the mobile menu, and the usual bug fixes. Get fully caught up with the release notes: github.com/withastro/st...

Me tomorrow after reading my sixth Vlad extension article that repeats the same information with different words whilst ignoring my job.

It's one of the biggest moments in #BlueJays history. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is here for good. Story: www.mlb.com/bluejays/new...

You know and love @astro.build official docs, but do you know about Astro Tips? Spent my weekend almost quadrupling the collection of links to helpful blog posts, recipes etc. We call our contributing docs "Astro Docs Docs" or ADΒ². Should we call astro-tips.dev (AD)Β² ?? ("Astro Docs After Dark" πŸŒƒ)

i don't think we should gatekeep the enormous 28 pound bunny that works as a service animal at giants games sometimes. i think we should share news of the 28 pound bunny with the wider internet

Some dramatic poses in the backyard today. You *got* peanuts. Why the face? πŸ“·πŸ¦πŸͺΆ #birds

I am *dying*. I am *deceased*. Especially for anyone who's ever sung the Swingle version... www.youtube.com/watch?v=mln7...

A super fun (and productive!) Talking and Doc'ing today! Updated our Tailwind docs to help the v3/v4 transition, and in the process discovered a bug with the docs site itself... which we then fixed live. All with ~10 ppl joining in to see how the "docsage" is made, chat, help, & keep us company!

I refuse to consider "Astro shenanigans" as *illegitimate* reasons... though I will admit they probably don't rise to the level of *completely* legitimate reasons. The point stands: it's a bit frivolous to travel just for a party, no matter how epic. If Joe gets a client, however...

We have one week to RSVP to a party in Stockholm in late May. If we make the trip to Europe, what @astro.build shenanigans can we get up to while we're there? Who's got my back, and will be my excuse to say yes to the dress??

As for today, I am a member of the Technical Steering Committee (TSC) of @astro.build πŸ₯· Hopefully I won't make Astro worse 🫑

I'm honored to announce I'm part of the new @astro.build TSC alongside @ematipico.xyz, @mk.gg and @fancypenguin.party!

Monthly blog post: I can quietly fix after publishing! πŸ₯³ Monthly newsletter: I have one chance to get this right... 😰 Add to my anxiety! Sign up for the @astro.build newsletter! Be one more person I inevitably disappoint! (Oh, & see all the cool community stuff, too.) astro.build/newsletter/s...

Technical writers juggle readability, accessibility, alert fatigue, their intended audience, and their own capacity in every document. Feedback is always welcome but...usually there is a reason something is or isn't done a certain way. The entire document can't be bold. πŸ˜‚
