The City of Alexandria is committed to supporting those who may be impacted by federal government workforce reductions. We understand that job uncertainty can bring financial and personal challenges, and we are here to help. Learn more at alexandriava.gov/FederalWorkers

If you aren’t yet familiar with the story of Cornerstone Craftsman, know that if we “look for the helpers” locally, they are there. Doing amazing work to uplift youth in Alexandria and build a better future. It was amazing to help cut the ribbon on their facility today.

Look, at least we get to play @transpobingo.bsky.social this week. I started with support a local business (St. Elmos Old Town North), dedicated bike lane (Slaters), travel via electric mode (e-bike) and track your impact squares (carbon saved)! @virginiatech.bsky.social Building Preview!

Hey @pieceoutdelray.bsky.social - can you show tomorrow’s 11:30 Liverpool v Man City game?? 😁

Compost collection happening at Market Square until noon! Also a Council public hearing happening. Short term rentals, new housing approvals and temporary movement of George Mason polling precinct to Trinity United Methodist.

Try watched more than 600 times.

No Kings. Only Trains.

Give me all the transit studies and sure, perhaps I’ll be even more interested if you throw in my picture. 😂. Well done @nvtc.bsky.social on these great bus and micro mobility studies!

Started at 7:30 with Waterfront and ending the day with a Council meeting with P&Z Long Range Work Plan. In between there was PTAC conversation, VRE and Gang Prevention meetings.

☔️👏🏾 A little rain couldn't keep Virginia @momsdemand.bsky.social volunteers and the amazing Vice Mayor and former volunteer @sarahbagley.bsky.social from walking in the George Washington Birthday Parade over the weekend!

It’s morning in Alexandria. Let’s discuss the Waterfront Plan at the Waterfront Commission.

I did a lot of George Washington themed things today as one does in Alexandria. Parades and toasts and lots of great people. George may have died before the bicycle came along but I’d like to think he’d appreciate its utility!

I accidentally ordered a ream of 11x17 paper. Anyone have some kids or art uses that could use it?

Without minimizing the fear and struggle facing so many right now, it was joyful to spend some time today dancing and spending time with seniors in Alexandria. Thanks to @canekforcouncil.bsky.social for capturing me on the beat!

I’ve put together a page on my website for federal employees impacted by Trump's mass purges of our federal workforce. It’s my hope that these resources will address questions and concerns, and provide you with as much information as possible: beyer.house.gov/news/documen...

While I have your attention with snow updates…I support this organization doing great work on behalf of LGBTQ+ youth. Maybe add them to your philanthropic list this year when this community is under direct attack. www.glsen.org

One snow related post before I dig into day job - given that more snow is possible/expected today, @alexandriavagov.bsky.social has not yet declared “end of snowfall” triggering clearance deadlines for residents and businesses. 🧵

My ongoing Spanish lessons have been a small bit of normalcy these last few weeks. But can someone explain the difference between “donde” and “adonde”. Asking for a friend who feels like they both mean “where” and isn’t sure when to use which.

Apply by Feb 15 for stormwater credits like @caslon.bsky.social ! www.alexandriava.gov/stormwater-m...

The Wrap Up Alexandria program provides free condoms at the Del Pepper Center. Good FAQ here on the program and Alexandria’s efforts on pregnancy and STI. www.alexandriava.gov/teen-pregnan...

I love that this “character” has a Wiki. This scene slayed me and I still choke up when I think of it. I hope the reimagined show delivers moments like this. buffy.fandom.com/wiki/Unident...

Part of resisting the efforts to erase unattractive parts of our American history, is to continue to teach the work of leaders like MLK Jr. Today we celebrated ACPS students who made art inspired by Freedom, Justice and Democracy.

I had the pleasure of joining the Alexandria Beautification Commission Retreat this morning. Their work to build a more beautiful, sustainable and equitable Alexandria is inspiring!
