I'm going on @laurahallain.bsky.social's new podcast, #MyWordsMyBook, soon and I'm excited! Laura is a force of nature in children's books and @mywordsmybook.bsky.social promises to be a really exciting podcast! I'll post when it goes up! @walkerbooksuk.bsky.social

THIS! As someone who is about to start querying, I will be returning to 👀 at the ideas here. Will try to add some too once I’ve gathered my thoughts. Thank you, @louiestowell.bsky.social

Fabulous @laurahallain.bsky.social has created a podcast to celebrate children's writers and boost the profile of children's books. #kidlituk

The latest Read for Empathy collection has been launched. As always, it's full of absolutely superb books, including graphic novels, poetry, picturebooks and non-fiction. The work @empathylabuk.bsky.social are doing is incredibly important. More information here: www.empathylab.uk/rfe

The longlist! *gasp* Thank you to all at @carnegiemedals.bsky.social and @kidsbloomsbury.bsky.social ♥️

I've filled this in. I'm not going to lie, it did take me a while, as I had a lot to say. BUT you can do it quickly by clicking space in the comment boxes. The questions are stacked towards the proposed 'opt-out' system (No thanks, loves), so really worth us making ourselves heard while we can.

Biologist David Sloan Wilson: "Ricardo's dream was to discover economic laws as universal and mathematically tractable as Newton’s laws of motion. He became so mesmerized by his models that he gave them priority over the more complicated real world—just like the neoclassical economists of today."

Economics describes the world in highly misleading ways. A new book, "Ricardo's Dream: How Economists Forgot the Real World and Led Us Astray," by @natjdyer.bsky.social takes us on a fascinating exploration of how & my Salon author interview provides an overview: 1/15 www.salon.com/2025/02/01/h...

I'll be speaking at this free, in-person event at University of Bath on Tuesday 25th February. Come along if you live nearby! @uniofbath.bsky.social #RicardosDream

It's friday, time for the weekly good news thread. What's YOUR good news from the week? What's made you smile?

Is there anything more exciting than just finishing a book only to find there’s a radio adaption of it on bbc iPlayer. I love a radio adaptation!! Listening to the Blue Book of Nebo by Manon Steffan Ros. Brilliant dystopian YA!!

I’m supporting #ReadItForward! Buy ANY children's or YA book!) during February and @bookshop-org-uk.bsky.social will donate 10% to @booktrust.org.uk BookTrust's mission is to get children from low-income and vulnerable family backgrounds reading regularly and by choice. (Links in Bio!)

I have a spare copy of this brilliant book - essential reading for everyone involved in children's books - so I thought I'd run a giveaway on here. Simply repost to enter & follow all the excellent folk in the post below, along with @booksforkeeps.bsky.social who publish the ongoing columns 🙏UK only

I enjoy reading children's books and choose to do so. Not all school staff have the time or inclination but they do need to know about them. Having a couple of staff meetings each year with time to explore picturebooks, poetry and graphic novels could make a world of difference in the classroom.

First of the month! Who's on the @islandofbrilliant.bsky.social today kids? Why it's Patrice Lawrence herself!!! The bringer of .... doughnuts ... islandofbrilliant.podbean.com/e/patrice-la...

I LOVED this conversation with the amazing @lawrencepatrice.bsky.social

👾LAUNCHING TODAY!!👾 “An invaluable resource.” @charliehacking.bsky.social / @theclpe.bsky.social “sparks the conversations we need to be having about the stories we tell and how we tell them” Jeffrey Boakye @darrenchetty.bsky.social @ksandsoconnor.bsky.social @engmediacentre.bsky.social

My fabulous and extremely talented friend and her fabulously written new blinder of a book! 🥹

The books we love when we're young change our lives forever, and so do the people who help us find those books. So I want to say a huge THANK YOU to all the amazing teachers, librarians, booksellers & everyone else out there who's working so hard to help kids find books to love! #literacy #books
