As #LGBTHistoryMonth comes to an end, we want to celebrate Trade’s own history of activism and social change. Trade started out as a community response to HIV in Leicester in the 1990s. Do you recognise anyone in the photos? We’d love to hear your memories of Trade’s early days.

So delighted to see this publication out in print, a topic I’m really passionate about, exploring the concept of family in #PedsICU Family Centred Care research. Excellently led by our wonderful joint first authors @ashleighebutler.bsky.social & @ebichard.bsky.social

We all should all learn something from a (nearly) two year old, seeing her first ever rainbow, demanding to be taken outside and then refusing to move till it vanished despite getting soaked 🌈 #AuntieRara

Sending lots of love to students & staff at my alma mater. The weather can be brutal on an average winter day but this looks horrific. Stay safe & well away from the seafront if you can. @aberuni.bsky.social

This week I gave an important talk at my departmental away day, sharing honest reflections of the times things didn’t go according to plan in my career. It felt exposing, but it’s vital to be honest so everyone knows that failure is hard, but it doesn’t have to define us.

Thrilled to share my latest publication exploring recent #FCC research in #PedsICU and announcing a new section on #FCC care in Pediatric Critical Care Medicine! journals.lww.com/pccmjournal/... With @josephcmanning.bsky.social, Florencia Krall, Alexis Shinewald, Karen Choong, Karen Dryden-Palmer

My dad listened quietly earlier, seething as I ranted about #EverydaySexism. I told him examples from my life & he was ashamed that men still do this. He asked me what he could do & I explained call it out men, whenever it’s in your earshot call it out. Don’t be their silent friend.

My niece (Piper) & nephew (Caleb) & our adventures will probably feature in my posts. I see them every week. I do not have children of my own (which is a separate topic for another day #ChildlessByChoice). They call me “Rara” (their nickname choice) although I’ll tag their posts with #AuntieRara.

When I’m not posting about #PedsICU, I post a lot about the ups & downs of academic life. I also travel lots & I post about my experiences as an auntie (#AuntieRara). I’m in Köln this week, had a bit of a wobble about whether to come but loved seeing a string quartet perform 80s music last night!

It’s 14 years since my Nan died, longer without my Granpa. They were fiercely loyal, cheering me on & loving me without question or hesitation. I miss them but smiling today cause I know I’ve made them proud.
