Never forget.

Show #3 of 2025: Lyle Lovett at the Elsinore Theater in Salem. He is an incredible songwriter and I appreciated him even more after seeing him live.

With a measles outbreak growing in West Texas, and cases popping up across the country, experts say vaccination is your best protection. And it's not just for kids. Some adults may need a booster.

The government cannot stop you from informing others about their legal rights. Know your rights when educating your community.

Whoever put up this billboard in my city is my hero.

I decided my house needed some updating.

Zeteo's weekly documentations of Trump's authoritarianism are maddening but also essential reading. I know I can't keep up with every daily disturbance, so I'm glad someone is keeping track.

This is what happens when we try to erase people from our culture, when we spread messages that they are not human and do not deserve to exist. “In my 20-year law enforcement career, this is one of the most horrific crimes I have ever investigated,” Captain Swift said. Remember Sam Nordquist. RIP.

For Black History Month, how about reading a recent book from a Black writer? I recommend this one I reviewed a few years ago for @hippocampusmag.bsky.social: "When They Tell You to Be Good" by Prince Shakur.

On Feb. 14th I try always to give honor to one of the greatest contributors to American democracy in our nation’s history, Frederick Douglass. Born into slavery, Douglass never knew his actual birthdate, and adopted Feb. 14th as the day. His penetrating insights about our country inspire me daily.

I am really outdone. The Maryland National Guard cannot celebrate Frederick Douglass, the state’s native son and perhaps the greatest American this nation ever produced, because he’s Black and his chosen birthday happened to fall during Black History Month. (Ask me why he had to choose is b-day)

Our government is erasing people right before our very eyes. This is genocide. From the National Park Service website for Stonewall.

Whaaaaaaa? How are they gonna explain Stonewall without Marsha Johnson and Sylvia Rivera??? 🤬🤬🤬

This, this, all this! youtu.be/sn9EKC9nqU4?...

"You didn’t need to transition. You always knew who you were and did an amazing job expressing that identity consistently, persistently, and insistently. The rest of us had to transition to see you for who you are." Beautiful letter from a mom to her trans daughter, via @nwlc.org.

Double cat nap, 2025. 🐾🐾

President Trump has issued dozens of executive orders that impact our rights. Here's what you need to know about the history, function, and limits of a presidential executive order.

Breaking News: Two transgender students challenged in federal court President Trump’s order that seeks to bar trans girls and women from women’s sports.

In times like these, we need our communities more than ever. Love and friendship help us through the darkest times. And this gives us comrades for the fight ahead. So thankful to have my community. ❤️❤️❤️

Happy Black History Month. ✊🏿✊🏾✊🏻 Here's one of my favorite recent reads from a Black author, activist Dorsey Nunn. Highly recommended. hippocampusmagazine.com/2024/09/revi...

Trayvon Martin dreamed of flying airplanes. But he was killed in a racist murder in 2012. His death sparked a national conversation about racial profiling &, following the acquittal of his killer, the #BlackLivesMatter movement. Happy birthday, Trayvon. #TheMarchContinues

On this day in 1917, Congress passed an Immigration Act that banned racial groups deemed "undesirable" from entering the U.S., and primarily barred Asian people.

Just a reminder that not all protests are in person. Boycotts work. Letter writing works. Phone calls work. In-person protests need planning and support. There are lots of different kinds of actions you can take. Just find yours. 😊

Young people deserve to learn about Black history in accurate, age-appropriate ways – and we shouldn't limit learning to #BlackHistoryMonth. These resources compiled by #LearningForJustice can help you learn & elevate complex Black history all year long ✨: www.learningforjustice.org/discuss-blac...

Thank goodness, a reason to smile this morning. 🐘

"But look closer, and you will see not a rogue president taking a hammer to a hitherto stable political order, but a history of the erosion of norms that paved the way for him."

Show #2 of 2025: @friendswithsalad.bsky.social and Los Mal Hablados at Misdemeanor Meadows in Portland.

Woohoo, my latest book review is here! I recently read this fascinating book about '90s women rockers that has me listening to The Breeders, Belly, and Veruca Salt all over again. Please check out my review and then the book itself!

Your action for today to actively support trans people: Step 1: go to Bandcamp and buy this album by trans artist @eevieechoes.bsky.social. Don't be stingy - there's 11 songs of ska/punk gold on there, so pay at least $1 per track if you can (or more). eevieechoes.bandcamp.com/album/the-co...

I have no interest in opening the door for fascists and their enablers. People are dying. Trans people are dying. Immigrants are dying. Lives are being ruined. We're sending bulldozers to Israel to kill Palestinians. I can't just say "no harm, no foul" to people who affirmatively support that.

NEWS: A4TE alongside movement partners interACT, @nwlc.org, Transgender Law Center, @ppfa.org, @theccr.bsky.social, and National LGBTQI+ Cancer Network wrote an in-depth analysis and explainer of Trump's executive order targeting transgender healthcare. Read now: transequality.org/news/analysi...

You need to understand that in 11 days, Trump has advanced anti-transgender policies to near genocidal intensity. Passports have been denied. ID documents confiscated. Banned trans medicine from those <19y. Essentially banned trans people from using bathrooms. This is the beginning of a genocide

Trans people are people. You can't just erase some letters from a website and make them no longer exist. I am a cis person who stands ready to be an accomplice in the fight for trans people. 🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍⚧️
