I like to read books and watch TV/Movies while drinking too much tea. I was SarahJeanTea at the old place. I’ll also babble about parenting & disabilities. She/Her. Whovian. Trekkie. 🫖♿️📖📺🖖

sooooo... women who are stalked and threatened with violence go to the cops and are told nothing can be done until they're actually attacked but these threats have "to be taken very seriously"??? WONDER WHY

@deannaraybourn.bsky.social The Impossible Imposter just made me gasp aloud. I don’t actually do that very often when reading. So, good job!

“Goop sorceress.” 🤣 Love Yellowjackets.

One thing Democratic leadership could do right now is to name an alternate HHS secretary--someone to provide ongoing public updates and health information. And do it for other departments too. Start showing voters what a Democratic government would look like--press conferences, speeches, all of it.

Speaking of evangelicals not recognizing an antichrist when they see em, this is pretty long and, if you're into this kinda thing, it's pretty 🤔 www.benjaminlcorey.com/could-americ...

A coalition of news organizations said in a court filing that video exhibits from a Jan. 6 riot case had "disappeared" from a government platform that provided access to evidence used in court.

Kamala Harris was not planning an ethnic cleansing to pave the way for golf course courses… Both sides were never the same.

For all federal employees: Before you are locked out of your systems, ensure you have copies of unclassified performance appraisals, awards & other relevant personnel docs. If you have access to your office, grab your more important personal items sooner rather than later.

We finally made it the fuck OUT of January. The month that was three months long. Blessed Imbolc. Set something on fire today. Also happy Black History Month. The moldy orange doesn’t want us to have one so I think it behooves us to INCREASE THE THING, yes?

How is this delightful series not a series of TV movies yet? Somebody get on that! www.audible.com/pd/B01NBPFSA...

We’ve been watching Classic Doctor Who as a family, and after many months we have finally reached the Second Doctor. These early seasons are new to all of us.

1. Sabotage public institutions. 2. Claim they don’t work efficiently. 3. Eliminate them. — That’s the playbook.

Trump signed an executive order that tries to write trans people out of existence today. It's mostly symbolic. It's still gonna make for a LOT of pain for the trans community--just probably not where you think it will. It's gonna be real bad for grant funding, which means medical research. A 🧵

Caligula appointing an actual horse to the Senate was a good (if mean) joke about the actual relevance of that institution during his rule, and I’m not convinced the joke wouldn’t play today

I had a walk today and thought about the relationship between civility, discomfort, and abuse. Some of you know that “civility” is one of my hard “ugh” triggers. This thread will explain why.

Hegseth wasn't nominated in spite of his awfulness—his advocacy for war criminals, white nationalism, sexual assault, etc.—he was nominated *because* of his awfulness. Like a dictator getting an implausible 99% in "elections." Demonstrate what loyalists will defend, and can force others to swallow.

We owe a great debt to the firefighting crews now battling the blazes. Those crews, not incidentally, include over 900 inmates from California prisons. Some thoughts 👇

it's going to sound gimmicky but I think that women shouldn't have to read the Gaiman piece but all men should read it to the end, just as all men should have read all the long reads about the Pelicot case, so many seem to still not realise the extent to which so many men hate and want to hurt us

A thing I find particularly striking about the Gaiman piece in Vulture is how deftly (and horrifyingly) it illustrates the ways abuse, as a practice, is passed down from generation to generation

Just saw a "not all men"/"a small minority of men" reply to a thoughtful post about Gaiman's vile doings and how it's vital for men to get to grips with the horrors that men perpetrate, SERIOUSLY LADS DO YOU HEAR YOURSELVES.

The Gaiman piece is incredible journalism and also kind of demolished my day. I'd say avoid it if you can, read others' accounts The sad thing is making everyone believe that there are people, people like you who can be gentle and kind and brilliant and then be secretly this. I am really gutted

Warning this article contains explicit depictions of SA.

We have been saying this. Policing, systemic racism, the abandonment of disabled people in the pandemic, attacks on trans and now cis queer people- it is a ball rolling downhill and it’s reaching terminal velocity. If you’re just joining us, hi, pick an org already working and get ready to listen.

I’m mostly been reading short/easy things in 2025 do far. The longer things are failing to capture my attention at the moment, which probably says more about my tired brain than it does of any of the books I’ve tried to start.

It’s new flavor day at the local coffee shop. So I’m enjoying a rose latte.

Just a reminder that nominations for the 2025 Rhysling Awards are currently underway!! This year's chair is @pixieb.bsky.social ✨ Any SFPA member in good standing may nominate. Check your email for more details!

I didn’t see that plot twist coming.

If you're a car manufacturer that has enough of a reputation for your cars frequently randomly exploding for everyone, including experts, to question for hours, if it was just a car exploding or actual fireworks/explosives when there's a high profile explosion, you might have a PR problem...

Bookstore haul. I returned 2 books that Teacup already had & grabbed her 2 Investigator books to replace them. I got myself 2 journals (1 for keeping track of books & 1 for everything else), a Goblincore coloring book, a Punk History calendar, & The Seventh Veil of Salome by Silvia Moreno-Garcia.

Right out of the gate, the writers of 2025 ain’t going for subtle

It’s okay if all you did in 2024 is survive.

The ebook of The Perdition Score is just $1.99 in all of your favorite formats. Stuff someone's stocking with infernal whiskey, cigarettes, and the devil.

Getting cheese curds from the drive thru instead of a burger is just the last fucking straw on my very shitty day.

I have so much to do between now and the 24th of December, but all I want to do is read 43 more books so I can reach my Goodreads goal for the year.
