A little while ago, my parents' cat Bridget went missing. As the weeks dragged on, they became extremely worried. My dad devised a way to distract himself: he began to paint Bridget's adventures, imagining her travelling through time and popping up in some of art and music's most iconic scenes.

Adding to this to say that American manufacturing is absolutely not gone. We just offshored a lot of the shitty and dangerous manufacturing jobs that Americans don’t want to do. I know this because I am always going to factories for my job

I tell people this all the time, esp when someone is talking about my clothes being "hand sewn" it's really easy to be like, all clothes are. All blankets are. Every seam in everything made is hand guided through a sewing machine

This isn't a dunk but this guy isn't talking about clothing manufacturing. Automation has replaced some bits like cutting but every article of clothing you wear was stitched together by a human. Robots can't sew.

I make most of my own clothes and it's not reasonable for most people to do. And not even I make all my own clothes bc sewing dresses and coats isn't the same skill set as creating bras or swimwear
