The hoodie has to be an intentional show of disrespect, right?

When you resist, when you protest, you're part of a larger movement that may be hard to see. But it exists, and it has historical parallels that mattered www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

it's not sustainable to be this overwhelmed, sad, and decision fatigued every day

This is a very important point. Breathlessly vague headlines and summaries of these executive orders created for the executive powers it does not have. This kind of press contributed to authoritarian regime change.

This year I am hosting the Romancing the Craft conference at Rutgers. It’s an all-day affair on May 3 with some of the best romance writers and editors offering a master class, workshops, speed pitches and more. Details and registration here: bit.ly/RomancingTheCraft

This project by Deborah was born right here on Bluesky. She has put in so much time to creating the resources and tools that will allow YOU to facilitate your own local teach ins about the post office. You can facilitate virtually or in person. Thank you so much Deborah for taking action.

All of the documentaries and movies about Roy Cohn matters so much to understanding this. He will never ever ever cave and all the pointing out hypocrisy just makes his refusal to capitulate look like strength.

you don't have to repost that woman standing in front of prisoners to dunk on it! all propaganda wants it to replicate, so STOP IT.

GOOD MORNING, GET TO BIDDING!

Elon Musk is fighting for his political life in Wisconsin. Here’s a race that could shape the future of the US.

Just did this. I haaaaate calling, but even with a situation that's obviously, non-partisanly dangerous, our reps are more likely to take action (any action at all) if they think we're paying attention

At first, I thought some evangelicals had gotten my number, and I was scrambling to block and delete. Then I finished reading the message

Trump and Musk are basically trying to deskill America: 1) kill all white-collar jobs and replace them with AI 2) kill universities 3) use tariffs to turn the U.S. into an economic island manufacturing, oil and ag hub 4) empty the cities 5) push men into manual labor & women back into the kitchen

Truly stunning that Schumer is going on tour in support of his book about the rise and evils of antisemitism -- while pledging to support an administration that is both blatantly antisemitic and using antisemitism as a shield to persecute other groups

He'll be at one of my fave bookstores next week. I just sent them a respectful note asking them to cancel and offering to buy at least $35 worth of books if they do (i.e., the cost of Schumer's book) See whole thread below for stores

I couldn't get through on the phone, so I faxed Schumer and Gillibrand Gillibrand's fax: (202) 228-4977

A fun thing I just did: rated this podcast one star on podcasts.apple.com

There are an incredible number of valid ways to be sickened by this statement. But if you're Jewish and not Palestinian, one good one is to be nauseated by idea that Palestinian lives are worth less than Jewish lives

Compiling what D Senators are telling constituents in this updating post. Some surprises. Kaine, Warner, Duckworth, Booker: no position Kim: appears to be a hard no Markey: office saying he opposes Elon but will vote Yes on Elon/Trump bill talkingpointsmemo.com/edblog/tally-3

“we will work with the nazis to combat antisemitism” ok

An important way to tell Dem electeds how you feel about their utter lack of leadership: get rid of them primary.every.democrat Brought to you by @mcfunley.com @footle.org @capwatkins.com

In recalling all the abusive behavior, please don't sleep on the fact that Cuomo was ALSO corrupt, dishonest and bad at his job!

Short thread that says a lot

Holy shit this lineup (to talk about a book that's possibly more relevant than when it was written?)

I made this the other night while procrastinating, mainly because I thought all the posts about the blackout were boring. It feels like there is momentum bringing people together!

Many are participating in a 24-hour economic boycott on February 28th to protest the ongoing actions of the Trump administration and to send a message to corporate America. “No online shopping or in person. No Amazon, no Walmart, no Best Buy.” [kottke.org]

Elon Musk's only profitable company, Tesla, has created a cumulative grand total net income of $34 billion in its more than 20 years of existence. That's less than the total amount of US federal subsidies his empire has collectively received. The economics of Elon Musk are as bad as the politics.

How is this any different from Trump’s DEI inspired attack on higher ed? Democrats normalizing attacks on free speech, free thought and academic freedom are as troubling as their GOP counterparts.

I really like this thread, talking through process, and each place we can stop them. Republicans tried to cut Medicaid in (at least) 1981, 1995, 2003, 2005, 2010, and 2017. Now 2025. This record of our success and their failure doesn't mean we'll stop them. But we can. We have before.

It's as important right now to affirm the positive as it is to sanction the negative. If someone or a group or an organization refuse to comply, let them know you appreciate them.

Incredible thread - full of practical info about the process that shows where we can stop these marauders. Please read, and keep on calling your reps (whom you can find at reps.fyi).

Apple's shareholder meeting is today (8a PST) and one of the proposals on the docket is "Request to Cease DEI Efforts". If you're an Apple shareholder, you can join the meeting and vote. Your brokerage should have sent you a link and a control number you'll need to sign in.

Also if you feel strongly about Eric Adams, you should call your city councilmember to express that and ask for their position. You’d be surprised. Hochul’s stance is highly disappointing but it doesn’t come from nowhere. Press all your electeds. City elections are in 5 months. Ask candidates too.

Here's a little thread of some excellent videos of people punching up this week. First up, the Governor of Maine, Janet Mills, telling Trump, "I'll see you in court," to his face and on video. bsky.app/profile/atru...

Things are hard enough right now with a partner walking around the kitchen making Edith Pilaf jokes He's not even a dad

For this and many other reasons, proud not to have voted for Goldman, though I live in his district
