#NACC to investigate Robodebt referrals "The Commissioner and those Deputy Commissioners who were involved in the original decision not to investigate the referrals, will not participate in the investigation." Is anyone left to investigate? @michellefahy.bsky.social @elizabethminter.bsky.social

In 1951, almost 98% of votes went to the 2 major parties. In last federal election, this number was an all-time low of 68%. In response to this fall in public support, major parties could have won back support with good policies. Instead, they chose to collude to rig the system in their favour.

Letter in today's Age If only my advocacy over the years had been as effective as Grace's. #GraceTame #Murdoch

Recently, a PRIVATE COMPANY undertook an #agedcare assessment. Sentences marked in pink are incorrect. Lynette has Alzheimer's. She lives alone. She needs assistance to get out of bed, shower and eat. Without a friend's help, she spends all day in bed. 🧵

Headline in The Age "Dutton says ‘strong’ leader needed to heal anxious, divided nation" I responded with a Letter to The Editor. #auspol #democracy

Ironic that Clive Palmer wants to trademark ’teal’, a term the media use to describe #communityindependents who have re-ignited grassroots participatory democracy. Lest we forget Palmer undermined #democracy by spending $116 million to purchase Babet's seat in the senate.

Using a photo of Peter Bol rather than Gout Gout on front page of The Age was a racist mistake ('they all look alike") The Age claims the error "was made during the cropping of a photo featuring both athletes". Did the person who cropped the photo think Gout Gout and Peter Bol look alike?

I keep reading that this is a place for kinder people, but gentle souls have always been among us. We just couldn’t hear them anymore. Perhaps our gathering here is proof that we missed those voices. What a wonderful thing to believe about ourselves. It can be a bold move to choose kindness.

@suebarrett.bsky.social responds to Paul Fletcher's absurd assertion that voters were conned into voting for #communityindependent "The blame lies with [Liberal Party], not the voters"

Main St #Mornington was flooded with orange as women, men and children walked to support ending #genderedviolence @bronwyncurrie.bsky.social "We have to unite to create a world where women and girls are safe, respected, valued, and equal." youtu.be/HsgcSkbNpK4

Good managers listen to critical feedback about a decision - and change their mind. It is not a weakness to change your mind - it is a strength. womensagenda.com.au/latest/what-...

Many people believe #communityindependents who genuinely represent their communities and hold the balance of power in a hung parliament are our only hope for our increasingly fragile democracy. Bravo @debleonard4monash.bsky.social

If a Government is trying to rush a bill through Parliament, then odds are something fishy is going on. @amyremeikis.bsky.social explains just how the donation reform changes could reinforce the two-party system, and shut out independents and new parties. #auspol

I was very fortunate to stumble upon Helen in a dog park. We soon discovered we had similar taste in literature. Helen died recently - and bequeathed me her extraordinary collection of books to add to my library. I will be able to escape from our mad world into a world of books!

The biggest change to electoral laws in 40 years without the usual parliamentary inquiry and debate. WTF #CommunityIndependents

A year ago, I exposed Arcare for charging residents for services that were not delivered. I called for Minister for Aged Care and the regulator to stop this illegal behaviour. How is possible that Arcare continues this unlawful practice? michaelwest.com.au/aged-care-co...

Federal govt is rushing laws through parliament’s final fortnight to strip big money out of politics, aiming to curtail the power of #CommunityIndependents to unseat the major parties. Govt plans to cap total amount candidates can spend during a campaign at $800,000. Juice Media responds.

We need #communityIndependents to push for genuine aged care reform. The RC final report was tabled 3 years ago but most recommendations have not been implemented. RC recommended mandatory minimum quals for personal care workers and a registration scheme for all staff. We are still waiting.
