Never invest your money in something you can’t research and understand.

I don’t want to flood my subscribers’ inboxes, but honestly, I feel like this is a time in history when you need to publish important things as soon as you write them. So I did. sarahstyf.substack.com/p/finding-sp...

With everything going on, I really want to start a separate Substack and website for my teaching materials so I can make the first unit I offer completely free: My Holocaust unit over Night. The hang up? I can change the name as it evolves, but I need a static domain.

On this Day of Remembrance, we honor the 120,000 Japanese Americans unjustly imprisoned during WWII because of their heritage. Their resilience remind us to never forget the lessons of history. We will continue to fight for justice, equality, and civil rights for all.

I can’t remember where I read this, but it’s important: Why is it that when people think about traveling to the past, they worry about doing something small that will drastically change the present, but no one in the present thinks that doing something small today can drastically change the future?

History doesn’t repeat itself, but it often rhymes…

There is a free preview for all readers, but the full post is for paid subscribers. I write about how things were falling apart before I knew they were falling apart. open.substack.com/pub/sarahsty...

I could write a blog post about school vouchers that would truly piss off people on all sides of the debate. I'm trying to decide if it's worth it.

“We must especially beware of that small group of selfish men who would clip the wings of the American eagle in order to feather their own nests,” President Franklin Delano Roosevelt, January 6, 1941

I'm so tired of people focusing on telling us how their good Christians instead of showing us. The focus of today's blog post: sarahstyf.substack.com/p/dont-tell-...

Happy Valentines Day! This is a chapter from my first book, Embracing the Journey. It’s available wherever you buy books online or it’s also available on audio! (Anyone looking to use some Audible credits before they drop Amazon???) sarahstyf.substack.com/p/sneak-peak...

The entirety of the anti-woke crusade can be boiled down to one proverb: “Where knowledge is a burden, ignorance is bliss.” The opposite of “woke” is “sleep.”

Dear Hoosiers, While you're calling your DC reps, add our state house reps to your to-do list and tell them to not defund our public schools with this new tax plan. The cuts are unsustainable.

It seems sooo easy...

Maybe it's middle age, maybe it's the world burning around us, but I have this insatiable urge to purge. First I sold all of the collector's edition Barbies I purchased in my 20s. Now I'm walking around the house trying to figure out how many of these knick-knacks I have an attachment to...

The deadliest natural disaster in US history warns us against restricting NOAA. Spoiler: 8,000 of Galveston's 35,000 residents were killed. From @sarahesmith23.bsky.social ⬇️ cmf.houstonchronicle.com/politics/hou...

“The stories from our past are what we use to interpret the harm we experience now.” I'm just getting started, but @jenaiauman.bsky.social speaks to my entire life experience in the Church.

I reflect on my experiences teaching about the Holocaust and what that has to tell us today. sarahstyf.substack.com/p/how-could-...

Y'all, I just downloaded the 5 Calls app and it is SO helpful!

MAGA morality: Put thousands of federal employees on leave, cut aid that sustains countless lives, demonize your opponents, and then enjoy the suffering of your enemies. But then - when one DOGE worker is fired for vicious racism -say, "Where's the grace and mercy in this country?"

Musk isn’t making government smaller. He’s shutting down the parts of the government that have been investigating his companies for safety violations and ties to Russia.

I'm a high school English teacher, was a history major in college, I've taught Night multiple times, and I've been to Dachau. All. Of. This.

Executive wants to frame the NIH indirects cut as $4B in savings. But given that NIH returns $2.5 on every $1 investment, this would actually cost US economy a net $6 BILLION (per year!). Not to mention the human costs of wrecking education and research sectors and the communities they serve.

We need more of this! Stop trying to sell policy outcomes to a dwindling number of supporters and start winning hearts and minds!

DOGE plans to slash about as much ($4B) from NIH, and hence from universities and medical centers, as the government gave SpaceX ($3.8B) last year. It's not about the money and government "waste." It's never been about the money or government "waste." www.usatoday.com/story/money/...

Dear Politicians, Biblical law was about #justice, not #retribution. It protected the innocent, deterred wrongdoing, and encouraged restitution rather than #unchecked #vengeance. The ultimate goal was to create a holy and just society that reflected God’s #character.

I'm a cradle LCMS Lutheran. My dad is a pastor. My grandfather is a pastor. I served in LCMS high schools for 17 years. Words cannot express how livid I am right now. I want to cry. From anger. From grief. From the loneliness that will come from stepping away. reporter.lcms.org/2025/lcms-pr...
