My first ever hare in the sun, sheltering from an icy wind. What a gorgeous creature.

You can't see him... but I just heard a Blackbird singing in the woods opposite our house. First I've heard this year 🎶🎵🎶 #birdsong #birds

And a Song Thrush, too... 🎶 🎵 🎶 #birdsong #birds #wildlife #nature #signsofspring

We craft these episodes not to increase your exposure to Trump insanity, but to minimise it. With warmth, humour, and calm, we filter out the panto and focus on what matters. And there's nobody better than @brianklaas.bsky.social at this. Best analysis you'll hear this week, in my view.

One of the coolest aspects of insect photography is the realization that colors and textures are CRAZY up close. What may seem like a solid color or a plain matte surface becomes something astounding up close. This net-winged beetle in the family Lycidae is one of my favorite pix of 2024 #bugsky 🌿

Juvenile Pileated Woodpeckers have brown eyes (like this female), while adults have bright yellow.

I’m so tired of him as well.

Here are some nice mushrooms

I post this every year & nobody ever believes that it's real but it is, no editing at all except a small crop. Leighton moss a few years ago eating an apple & as I went to take another bite a robin landed on the apple, inches from my face. An amazing moment 😆. Merry Christmas everybody #UKBirding

An adult Jay feeding a young one. I've only rarely seen them raise their head feathers like this and it's the only time I've ever captured it. #wildlife #ukwildlife #birds #nature

Day 22 of the 2024 #ArtAdventCalendar coincides with #nationalrobinday so it has to be this little watercolour robin. #kleineKunstklasse

The underrated little dunnock. A delightful bird with lovely plumage, always busy, usually in the undergrowth looking for food.

Here is a nice mushroom

Day 21 of posting cool mushrooms every day: The Bleeding Tooth fungus (Hydnellum peckii) has both teeth on its underside and "blood" on its top! The "blood" is extracellular fluid, which is squeezed out when the fungus absorbs water, increasing pressure until the red fluid is squeezed out!
