First: I apologize for never coming here and now doing so only to brag 😬 Second: I am very proud of the people in our lab. We are a small group in a Bio department and this work took an enormous amount of effort from every one here. rdcu.be/eaxEz

Today is International Day of Women & Girls in Science. Marie Curie, the first woman to win a Nobel Prize. Her contributions have left an indelible mark on the world of science & health & continue to inspire generations of scientists & innovators. 🔬 #WomenInScience #WomenInSTEM

Proteogenomic analysis of evolved aneuploid cell lines & primary tumors reveals cancer adaptive strategies for alleviating aneuploidy consequences – including increased expression of DNA replication & repair factors & of FOXM1 targets Zuzana Storchova and coworkers www.embopress.org/doi/full/10....

🚨Thanks to generous support from @cancerresearchuk.org, we have multiple postdoctoral positions available in our lab (www.mardakhehlab.info) @oxfordbiochemistry.bsky.social to study ribosomes synthesis in cancer. Get in touch if you’re interested + RT and spread the word! 📣 #cancer #RNA 🚨

Here is a growing list of conferences and schools in gene regulation for 2025 generegulation.org/conferences-.... You can order/filter this list by the date, deadline, location. Please reply here to suggest new events* *should be specific to gene regulation

PhD Position available in my lab. Interested in prostate cancer research and developing novel disease models to accelerate research impact then this is for you. Come and join of research community @nucancer.bsky.social www.findaphd.com/phds/project...

Do you know where transcription of a gene actually stops? Hint: it is not the annotated gene end. In our new paper in Nucleic Acids Research we argue that phosphorylation on threonine 4 of RNA Pol II CTD is a marker of transcription termination in animals... 🧵 academic.oup.com/nar/advance-...

We just posted a preprint about a death mechanism that we find truly surprising. When you turn off transcription, cells die (duh!)... but did you know this happens due to loss of Pol II itself, not loss of Pol II activity!?! preprint here and a thread (1/n): www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1... 🧪

Ever wondered how transcription choreographs histone modifications? Our work reveals the basis of co-transcriptional H3K36me3 by SETD2. We visualize how a histone writer coordinates with the transcription machinery! This is the magnus opus of @jonmarkert.bsky.social! tinyurl.com/setd2

Beware using FLAG tags in SUMOylation studies, as the lysines in the DYKDDDDK sequence can be SUMOylated according to this report... www.sciencedirect.com/science/arti...

Interested in RNA biology, cancer or vascular research? I have a position open for either a research assistant or a new postdoc to start expanding the fast-growing research area of cardio-oncology! Apply here: jobs.ncl.ac.uk/job/Newcastl... Happy to have informal chats! Please share 🧬.

Can anyone recommend a service provider offering nanopore direct RNA-seq? Looking for reasonable pricing and turnaround time; ideally based in UK or Europe. #RNA #RNAseq #ONT #RNAsky

Are you looking for PhD studentship? We're advertising a fully funded PhD project, get in touch if you're interested. The project focuses the effects of hypoxia in tumours on the oestrogen response in breast cancer. Details: www.findaphd.com/phds/project... #PhDLife #BCMS 🧪 Please Share.

First post on Bluesky! I have been awarded a @thebhf.bsky.social 3 year #PhD Studentship so looking for enthusiastic people to apply who are interested in researching the #genetics of #cardiovascular development @newcastleuni.bsky.social. Apply here: tinyurl.com/yc6paa5w

If you're here to reconnect with Nuclear Receptor biologists, I made a go at a starter pack of who I've found. If you want to be added or if you have suggestions of wonderful people I've missed - let me know. You're also welcome to follow me for StarTrek gifs and scicomm. 🧪 go.bsky.app/UeBP3kx

#RNA researchers and afficionados: New to Bluesky or been here for a while? Check my #RNAsky starting pack and feel free to ask me to add you to the list. Or share with us your RNA starter pack ! 🧪 go.bsky.app/RN6HnZp

First post on this platform with some exciting news: I'll be starting a position as Faculty Fellow here in Newcastle in January 2025! The lab will be studying #transcription and #RNA processing in #cardiooncology. More updates to come in the next few months so watch this space! 🦋
