I’m about to board my flight to El Salvador, where I hope to meet with senior government officials to discuss the return of Kilmar Abrego Garcia. I also hope to see Kilmar and check on his condition — and remind him that we won’t stop fighting until he’s home.

I really hope she's OK. What's this 'coloniser' bullshit??

15 April 1934 | A Dutch Jewish boy, Herman Ruzhaner, was born in The Hague. In September 1943 he was deported to #Auschwitz and murdered in a gas chamber.

‘We are staring into the abyss. Any person, citizen or not, can now be shipped off to a gulag from which they have no hope of release, no opportunity for judicial review, no protection of any law.’ open.substack.com/pub/theunpop...

Any Democratic politician who doesn't understand Nayib Bukele's grave offense against the sovereignty of the American people and constitutional order and say as much publicly should have no future in elected office. talkingpointsmemo.com/edblog/bukel...

“For electronics, at least, we’re now putting much higher tariffs on intermediate goods used in manufacturing than on final goods. This actually discourages manufacturing in the United States.”

A completely new level of f#ckwittery.

Can people stop pretending that the UK is somehow unique in its attempts to discuss trade with the US & see reductions in tariffs. It's the sensible thing to do to protect businesses in your own country. Some others in talks: the EU, Japan, India, Switzerland, South Korea, Norway. Even Canada.

As the UK economy jumps by .5% growth can we expect to see non stop coverage on the media as we did for a .01 % fall last month ? Doubt it , good news is only of media interest if it is Tory good news.

I think Trump frit himself... www.theguardian.com/business/liv...

In economics, as in geopolitics, Trump fundamentally misunderstands the limits of American power. It is at the centre of everything he does. The markets, the only real impediment to him now, may be about to teach him how wrong he is. New writing from me. open.substack.com/pub/goodalla...

When Trump launched these tariffs, most of us who are not economists did some research only to discover that Trump knows less than we do. Chilling discovery. It appears that his goal is to get other counties to grovel to him. There is nothing in it for us

While, obviously, Trump and Brexit are very different, they've both had the same terrible effect; they've made social media celebrities out of people who write 75-post threads about the fundamentals of international trade. This may be unforgivable.
