This morning at Dept of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) HQ in DC as mandatory return to office began, this video played on loop for ~5 mins on screens throughout the building, per agency source. Building staff couldn’t figure out how to turn it off so sent people to every floor to unplug TVs.

Just a plug for grabbing this from Half Letter. I really treasure my reprint of this photo. I particularly love the visceral feeling of folks literally working, together. For something bigger. Great reminder for these days. Thanks Mariame! Thanks Mark!

@anniewaldman.bsky.social Might be worth looking at Ethan Shaotran’s family. His parents, or at least their business and foundation, stand to benefit significantly by having an eye inside the govnt particularly in the GSA. I would guess Ethan’s pops hooked him up with the Elon connect.

In the coming weeks, a lot of slow-on-the uptake folks are going to begin belatedly realizing Trump is both an inept moron and a dangerous autocrat. Our great civic challenge in these trying times will be calmly welcoming them aboard instead of primal-screaming in their faces.

Did some sleuthing and found (what I think to be) Ethan Shaotran’s parents’ “foundation” and his dad’s X. Foundation’s 2023 990 shows a big investment in Tesla and dad’s X references his company having GSA ties. Pretty alarming that the son has unfettered access to GSA systems and US treasury info.

there are rappers who have been shot who didn’t lose a rap battle this badly

So we’re getting couped I guess? Not surprised of course but still very wild. As many have said, more eloquently, you have got to learn how to move a little scared. The sooner you wipe the shock off, the sooner you can act. Act with love and purpose and remember, we can do this together.

no call to action, no specific policies mentioned, no plans, can't leave a voicemail because his inbox is full. we elected him to the safest blue seat in the senate and the most he can manage is vague platitudes. what a complete waste.

that's right

Can we get someone to write code to break this email address via spam? I feel like there was a good tool during Tr*m*’s first reign related to either immigration or internet rules or something. People will click a quick link! Let’s shut this shit down.

every single one of these guys is an incel loser who thought that being rich would make them popular and well-liked and when it didn't happen they lost their minds even further

Police killed more people this year than any other year on record, killing 3.4 people per day nationwide. mappingpoliceviolence.us

Years ago I wrote the last three on a sheet of paper. It’s on the fridge now for me and my family to look at each day. Love everybody. Make up your mind. Wake up and fight. 2025 here we go.

This is completely bonkers. Like what person, who does a totally USian thing like fire a gun at another person, ever gets paraded around like this with a fed goon squad?!? If this doesn’t tell you the whole story, I don’t what will.

Israel accused of act of genocide over restriction of Gaza water supply

Got tired of being scolded by out-of-touch traditional media and wrote about Mangione, American healthcare, and what we define as violent. open.substack.com/pub/thespite...

Inbox: ‘Wanted’ posters of healthcare CEOs wheatpasted around lower Manhattan ahead of today’s Goldman Sachs Financial Services conference. “Those who would steal from us have names, faces, and addresses. Justice will only come from the working class,” per anon communique.

Watching TV news each night and their coverage of the Luigi Mangione case is honestly kind of shocking at this point. I’ve never seen a bigger gap between the way it’s described on TV and the way it’s discussed online and in real life. I always like to think of historical parallels but I’m failing.

Love a good hometown hero story arc.

I was in Seoul a few months back and saw daily protests against Yoon and his veto of a workers’ rights bill. I was blown away by the way protests looked (kinda formal; lots of energy; music). As a total outsider I couldn’t deny the sense that the middle aged crowd was NOT to be fucked with!

Reach into your pockets friends! I’ve heeded Mariame’s ask for a few years now and love to see REBUILD doing such meaningful work. See about a match from friends and family or maybe your workplace. #GivingTuesday

Israel’s former defense minister, Moshe Ya’alon, has accused Israel of ethnic cleansing and committing war crimes in Gaza.

Books. When buying books for gifts this holiday season, please don't buy from Amazon. Please shop at your local independent bookstore/bookseller. Ask for recommendations. If they don't have a particular book in stock, ask them to order it. Support creatives, local businesses, and your community.

This would make a fantastic gift for the lover of independent publishing in your life! Or, if that’s you, introduce a pal to Public Collectors.

So my 8yo is in a choir. She is currently casually listening to some of her winter concert songs as practice whilst drawing. She just searched and put on “Away in the Manger.” Within the first couple lines, looks at the screen and goes “Carrie Underwood? Nope. FLAT. Next.”

I am a super-patient of sorts at #ucsf and am not at all surprised to hear these accounts. Are there any patient groups out there organizing around defending our beloved providers who speak out against genocide? Get at me if so, I’m down to tap in!

The walls are closing in fast. Whatever my feelings may be about the teeth (or lack thereof) on ICC - the encouraging bit is that continued global isolation of Israel and the US is a good thing for the longer trajectory of justice. Genocide cannot stand and Palestine WILL be free.

“… when the state fails or turns against us, penalizing us, denying us resources, restricting our speech and freedom of movement, and attacking the weakest among us, all we have is each other: our bravery, our competence, our delight, our anger, our refusal to back down or see another harmed.”

Just in case I forgot to post Daniel Hunter's fantastic guide here. wagingnonviolence.org/2024/11/10-t...
