What it looks like to balance living a meaningful life and being a silly little guy:

Things I think folks can learn to say, get comfortable saying, and show others are okay to say, that would genuinely improve the state of the world: "I didn't know that" "I was wrong" "What does that word mean?" "Can you explain this?" "I don't think I understand" "I don't know" "I'm confused"

Every indie filmmaker I know is living a version of this, myself included. And it’s not what any of us signed up for. There is much organizing to do among indie lifers so we can actually be paid for our labor and push our films directly to the audiences who want to see them. Bravo, Sean Baker.

These @letterboxd.social reviews. 🥺🥺 If you weren’t able to catch CHASING CHASING AMY tonight in Bloomington, IN, don’t fret! It’s available digitally everywhere in the U.S. & Canada—including on @kanopyofficial.bsky.social, @hoopladigital.bsky.social, and all VOD platforms. chasingamydoc.com

hello cis friends this is what people mean by trans genocide if a type of person does not officially exist, then any harm against them cannot be measured or reported this headline change isn't even being caused by an executive order it's simply the NYT editors deciding we don't deserve to exist

I've got a new video out today! (Even though it's a little late) It's the Movies You May Have Missed for 2024!

When I send a polite follow-up email:

Thank you to the kind folks at @sxsw.com for recognizing me and the Transgender Film Center with their annual Community Service Award for Film & TV. I promise to keep trying my hardest to support trans filmmakers. Thank you, thank you, thank you. 🥺

Thanks for including CHASING CHASING AMY in this wonderful list of films, @silaskade.bsky.social! You have yourself a new subscriber. And you’re so right to clock me as a Wife Guy (genuine). 😉

Today was a day of mass censorship. Sending love & solidarity to all the amazing career scientists in government. For the rest of us: Now is not the time to self-censor or comply in advance. More than ever we need to stand by the principles of our profession and always keep speaking truth to power.

Are you a trans or nonbinary writer? Clarion West just announced a new scholarship that covers all six weeks of tuition:

On this week's episode of #FemFreqRadio, we're joined by director @savrodgers.bsky.social to discuss his documentary CHASING CHASING AMY and the complicated legacy of its subject matter, Kevin Smith's 1997 film CHASING AMY. Listen at patreon.com/posts/120994...

In my humble cis opinion, 2024 was a good year for trans cinema! I've now seen all of these except for Layla (not sure when/if it will be available in the US).

Playing the PCC was a top 10 exhibition experience—and one of the greatest nights of my life. #SaveThePCC

Really dug CHASING CHASING AMY, a very personal documentary on finding yourself in media as well as a solid examination of the.. complicated intentions and readings of the Kevin Smith movie. It's on Hoopla!

What an amazing experience. I'm in tears. Very touching. I couldn't recommend this more. Love is love is love. ❤️❤️❤️ #chasingchasingamy

Highly recommend watching Chasing Chasing Amy. Such a fun, heartfelt documentary. #documentary #KevinSmith #moviesky

Thank you, @bjcolangelo.bsky.social & @slashfilm.bsky.social. This means more to me than you know. 🥲

There was some great trans representation last year, but Emilia Perez wasn't one of them. Chasing Chasing Amy was one of my top movies last year. I cannot recommend it enough. It's not listed, but I also recommend Satranic Panic for some trans horror comedy. It felt like Buffy meets To Wong Foo.

Chasing Chasing Amy is streaming and has a GLAAD nomination for Outstanding Documentary!

apropos of nothing, four films that actually explored trans people/characters/identity in interesting ways in 2024:

While I was rooting for WILL & HARPER, QUEENDOM, and SEAT 31: ZOOEY ZEPHYR to get nods today, these are terrific films who will survive just fine without the recognition of any one awards body. These movies rule—and I am thankful they exist.

Feeling compelled to link to the entire two seasons of You Must Remember This where Katrina Longworth brilliantly dissects how afraid Hollywood (forgive the imprecise catch-all term) is DEEPLY afraid of sex.

I miss my dog!!!!!

Made it to Sundance 🗻
