Stephen Fry, "I'm deeply worried about the darkening shadow that's going over the world, the shadow of fascism" Laura Kuenssberg, "You would use that word?" Stephen Fry, "Absolutely. It's a cult of power. And power only speaks to power"

‘exposed a darker side to Paris's cycling revolution’ Hmmm, more like a darker side to psychopath drivers… ‘the marks of the vehicle crossing his body’ Fair and balanced from the #BBC 😬 www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

20 minute neighbourhoods need traffic filtering. Since 1993, this filter has been quietly effective - attracting no fuss or claim that residents freedom has been restricted in any way. Rat run: tamed. #StreetsNOTroads

It’s Saturday night and I want to head into town, reliably, cheaply and quickly! @edinburghcouncil.bsky.social thanks for the accidental secure city centre bike parking. 👍 #alltheordinarythings

This is for @gtconway.bsky.social Five things I did last week. 1. Took too much ketamine 2. Danced onstage with a chainsaw 3. Ignored my new baby momma 4. Laughed at my own jokes. 5. Neglected all of my children except for the one I use as a human shield.

Another aspect of motonormativity is how car crashes are used in fiction as a deus ex machina way to get rid of characters without explanation. Everyone from the writer to the viewer understands that being killed by a car is just something that happens from time to time, outside anyone's control

With so much going on, I missed Truss’s fillers.

Today in Scotland 😢 Thanks @policescotland.bsky.social www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Threat to pedestrians = drivers Threat to people on bikes = drivers Threat to those using mobility devices = drivers Threat to drivers = drivers We must continue to prioritize drivers.

Great piece about @coachbalto.bsky.social and the bike bus movement, countering “the epidemic of dangerous and toxic car traffic” whilst having fun: “the best thing about the bike bus is that it’s simply a cool thing to do with friends.” www.theguardian.com/environment/...

Stumbled across this metaphor while walking around Vancouver BC.

Another vulnerable traveller killed by a driver. 😢 @policescotland.bsky.social @fionahyslop.bsky.social we are failing the young and old in our society with their much reduced access to cars. We need to control drivers. We need to process options for travel. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

What absurd bollocks is this? Less than 1% of people pay school fees. Yet, apparently it increases inflation for everyone else. Who writes this absolute drivel? www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

This is why #Edinburgh needs a decongestion charge too: 🚌 Bus trip times reduced 🚋 Public transport usage up 💰 Good for business 🚑 Traffic injuries halved In addition it’s been reported that: 🚊 subway crime has dropped 🚶‍♂️ pavements are busier 📦 easier to make deliveries #streetsNOTroads

Put aside the nastiness of this post, & the way in he attacks Zelenskyy as a dictator but says not a word about his pal Putin, & just focus on the way it is written: would you hire this weird person to work for you? Would you trust this odd person to teach your kid in school?

What an absolute joke. #motonormativity www.edp24.co.uk/news/2494849...

Imagine being rich enough to do anything you want and choosing to take food and medicine from starving children to give yourself even more money.

This on repeat.

@edinburghcouncil.bsky.social @stephenjenkinson.bsky.social your regular reminder that you have still not implemented an active travel zone linking the 4 HS, numerous PS and two sports centres along Colinton Rd. Literally 1000s of residents who could be active but are currently dissuaded by danger.

Your regular reminder that a staggering 41% of adults aged 40 to 60 in England walk less than 10 minutes continuously a month at a brisk pace. Physical inactivity amongst adults contributes to 1 in 6 deaths in the UK & costs the NHS over £1 billion per year

@policescotland.bsky.social @fionahyslop.bsky.social @johnswinney.bsky.social is the plan no plan? Is the plan to wait for this to happen again?

Don’t worry it will happen again. The system is broken. The system encourages road violence. And following this incident nothing has been altered. The driver had been banned 6 times. The speed limit has not been altered. No street redesign. No vehicle controls. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...
