had a realization that the reason telemachus sings a similar tune in “legendary” (cause i’m stuck with your stories…) that odysseus does in “full speed ahead” (watch where the birds fly…) is because odysseus is younger at the start of the musical and telemachus is a younger version of odysseus 😭🫶🏻

So tiktok has been closed as of 1030 EST and a mountain of people are hopefully gearing up to drop off the Meta platforms for a bit as a “fuck you” and I’m here for it. The people who voted to ban TikTok purchased stock in Meta within the last year, so there’s that.

A reminder: Donald Trump launched this whole TikTok ban as far back as August 2020 when he issued an Executive Order highlighting his concerns about TikTok specifically. He then ordered ByteDance (TikTok’s parent co) to divest its interest in the operation of the app in the US. Trump’s no hero.

Just a reminder of some of the context around the TikTok ban: In 2020, Trump tried to ban it via executive order a couple months after K-pop fans used it to organize fake signups to Trump’s Tulsa rally, which led him to publicly overestimate how large the crowd size would be.
