It's inspiring watching Spielberg be such a good loser early in his career.

I know this sounds ridiculous, but trust me: this film is an utter masterpiece - like bordering on 'Star Wars' (1977) or 'Fight Club' (1999)-level masterpiece. It is also one of the biggest box office bombs of the year. Go see it while you still can: youtu.be/neyfwa4GrVA?...

The incredible 'Rock DJ' scene from 'Better Man'. People, you do not want to miss this on the big screen: youtu.be/o3HOYdlte8w?...

Wow! I finally saw 'Better Man,' and thank the maker I caught it before it left theatres! Whoever greenlit this insanity will surely be fired, then re-hired when it becomes a massive cult hit in future. Love listening to American critics talk about it in such glowing terms: youtu.be/D4aDhqBlVxQ?...

Howard Hawks y Cary Grant admiran la maqueta de Barranca para Only Angels Have Wings (1939).

Reading Harrison Ford's biography now and this blew my mind: In the late 60s, he worked as a camera man on a documentary about 'The Doors' rock band. The footage he shot was all of focus... which made me feel a bit better about a similar early career screw-up of mine😄 youtu.be/Bj299mLjryc?...

This article is a must read for anyone criticising The Brutalist's use of AI.

The controversy over "The Brutalist" is absurd and extremely ironic, considering it is far more man-made than most films today. A nearly 3 1/2 hour art film shot in 35mm VistaVision. They used "AI" (aka computer assistance) to fix minutiae of Hungarian dialogue scenes out of perfectionistic love.

On January 20, 1949, J. Edgar Hoover gave Shirley Temple a strange FBI souvenir– a fountain pen that emitted tear gas.

I nearly forgot Lynch did this, but so glad he did... youtu.be/dk6spjF98No?...

Sad to hear via LinkedIN Chris Strompolos (maker of 'Raiders of the Lost Ark: The Adaptation') lost his home in the LA fires. He has a GoFundMe to rebuild, if you'd like to donate. I won't provide a link, so as not to be responsible for any fraud, but I believe it's legit. Please do your own checks.

Now listening to: Burt Reynolds' hugely entertaining 'But Enough About Me'.

Finally checking out Carrie Fisher's 'The Princess Diarist'. So glad I got this as an audio book. Such a treat hearing it all straight from the super hilarious writer's mouth.

The Flash Gordon newspaper comic strip, created by Alex Raymond, premiered on January 7, 1934.

The Buck Rogers newspaper comic strip premiered on January 7, 1929. The character first appeared as Anthony Rogers in the story Armageddon 2419 A.D. in Amazing Stories in August 1928. Writer & creator Philip Francis Nowlan adapted it into the strip with artist Dick Calkins.

How to write: Stop not writing. Keep your butt in the chair. Write really bad small sections of the whole—passages, moments, episodes, memories—til you have an incredibly shitty 1st draft. Then take out the boring parts, the lies and pretensions. Then write a better 2nd draft.

My next video, this time on one of the greatest films ever made! Gremlins 2! www.youtube.com/watch?v=NHuF... Find out how Gizmo appeared to walk, among many other things. Huge thanks to @oliverharper.bsky.social @themanfrowns.bsky.social @sceclements-writer.bsky.social & @nsbulk.bsky.social
