LinkedIn- ‘are you looking for a new job?’ Me. Why no. Also me- is LinkedIn telling me something?!

The challenges around academic research literally never changes…

This is an important message. Historically, the NIH is considered money well-spent that saves lives. Win that fight and mindshare, we can argue over how to improve once we get the core story around value right.

Shocking, but not surprising. Science article from 2017 www.science.org/content/arti...

The entire archive of all CDC datasets uploaded before January 28th, 2025 has been backed up on Internet Archive. Incredible work everyone. Science will never be silenced!

The best time to start a Babylon 5 rewatch is now 🤗

I hope you will all join me in expressing your thanks to the NIH and NSF staff who are working in an impossibly difficult and chaotic environment to keep science going in our country.

Cannot tell this story enough. Had an antivaxxer basically share this paper represents a heroes’ work. No, it’s truly faked data that’s killed many thousands of people.

Are you funded by #NIH, #NSF or #CDC? Please post any letters or communications you’ve received from these agencies or HHS about restrictions on grant funding, publications etc. I want to catalog all of them for the record. #medsky #episky

I was at the first March for Science. Was amazing and positive-focused. We have real agency! Speak up is the first step. Action is critical for impact however. Hitting likes and reposts (like this one!) should just be a first step.

This account is for sharing info with US scientists, both extramural and intramural to NIH, about attacks on science in the US. Education is power, and we can help advocate for science and medicine together. 💪🧪 We are a team of NIH people. Please ask us questions you might have.

Wired is, quite simply, doing the most comprehensive and important journalism of this administration so far.

Want to improve engagement on your paper? Include it in the first post of your thread! The masses rarely read threads but will click on links (especially with a preview image). Your Altmetrics will thank me! #SciSky

Insurers are the adults in the room. They will literally go out of business if they ignore climate change.

'Congressionally Directed' - hmmm, the White House sure has a lot of power! The CDMRP website is down with 404 errors. cdmrp.health.mil

Please RT Housing policies in the US (eg redlining) made it more difficult for Black Americans to generate wealth through home ownership. This has bothered me. I ran across a curated list of GoFundMe accounts for Black homeowners who lost their homes in the LA fires docs.google.com/spreadsheets...

Planning your summer science adventures? Join us at this amazing Gordon Conference in the Swiss Alps. Follow this thread for the diverse topics and speakers already on board, and we're starting to look at abstracts for more invited talks! Please re-post

I’ve become that curmudgeon where change is not good. Stop with these kind of ‘nomenclature revisions’. All it does it emphasize papers using the new monicker, and risks archiving older research. This is self-serving and is not worthy of serious practitioners of philosophy (ie PhD or equivalent).

This is a good read. I would add : supporting top independent podcasts is critical. Find places where critical thinking that looks at many sides of the elephant. That means they show you sometimes a view that challenges you.

If you have ever tried to read free books from sites like Project Gutenberg, you noticed that they can be uncomfortable to read, due to their layouts, type & occasional errors This project takes those free books and makes them beautiful (and still free). standardebooks.org

Would love to add options for authors to be innovative in how they communicate their science. Maybe we can add different options to organize preprints too. Let biorxiv be biorxiv, let the community explore and experiment

Rare disease impacts many. And we have the scientific tools to make real solutions. Time to crack these challenges to go from hopeless to hope to help to cures.

ROTFL!

Many academics point to bioRxiv as “the one thing improving science publishing”. If so, the one thing you all can do is persuade colleagues to submit and make this a norm. 1/2

Why are so many companies ‘updating’ their privacy policies? All about AI training? No way anyone is actually reading them.
