Utah Gov. Spencer Cox and state Sen. Mike McKell made an unannounced weekend trip to Iceland for a Mormon history event. Cox's office says no state resources were used for his travel. www.utahpoliticalwatch.news/utah-gov-cox...

This is Sen. Mike Lee’s Kobayashi Maru. He worked so hard for so long to get Elon to notice him. If he chooses him, Trump will cast him aside. People finally pay attention to him through his shitposting on Twitter. If he chooses Trump, Elon might take that away. Such a thirsty boy…

As we’ve seen with his separation from Grimes, Elon Musk handles breakups very well.

Elon Musk and Donald Trump are having a good old flame war on social media. It's spectacular to watch.

This would need a 2/3 vote in Congress and ratification by 3/4 of the states, which is 38. Lee has passed just 12 bills during his time in Congress. This idea ain't going anywhere.

Fresh off banning Pride flags in schools, Rep. Trevor Lee now wants to block sports teams and organizations that get state funding from supporting Pride month. Legal experts warn that his plan is unconstitutional. www.utahpoliticalwatch.news/utah-lawmake...

This a great summary of Lee and just how targeted his pride flag ban here in Utah really is

Utah Rep. Trevor Lee went ballistic after the Utah Mammoth NHL team posted a Pride-themed version of its logo on social media - threatening "significant legislation" in response. Here's what I think he's up to - plus a rundown of his history of making anti-LGBTQ statements. youtu.be/KkCCZOhraWQ

Utah Rep. Blake Moore once championed Elon Musk's plan to slash $2 trillion in government spending. Now, he's distancing himself from DOGE after the billionaire fell far short of his promises. "The federal government is not Twitter," Moore said. www.utahpoliticalwatch.news/utah-rep-bla...

According to a Utah far-right Telegram group, there's an LGBTQ coup happening almost daily at Mt. Jordan Middle School. Of all the things that never happened, this never happened the most...

He owns a billboard company and didn't realize "everyone would notice" the billions of tributes to his late mother? What does he think billboards do, exactly?

This is a clear explanation of the tangible impacts Trump's cut to the federal government will have on regular people.

Oh noes! Given how fragile these WankPanzers are, a single egg is enough to destroy them.

Alarming doesn't begin to describe this...

🎙️ New podcast! Utah Republicans love research...unless it conflicts with their agenda. How can Utah Democrats become relevant again? Rep. Blake Moore was all in on DOGE...but that was so five months ago. Listen and subscribe at the link! www.utahpoliticalwatch.news/podcast-trus...

“Last year, more people were killed by automobile accidents, heart attacks, lung cancer and natural causes combined than by any one tomato.” IYKYK

The hummers are extremely busy at my feeder today.

Happy Pride Month to all who celebrate!

Utah Dems are done playing nice. Former Rep. Brian King wins party chair, promising to stand up to GOP dominance as delegates demand change after decades of losses. "Republicans are serious about hurting people—we need to be serious about protecting them" tinyurl.com/2x3d8438

Results from the Utah Democratic Party convention:

 Chair - Brian King
 Vice-chair - Susan Merrill
 Secretary - Brad Dickter
 Treasurer - Catherine Voutaz

We were just informed that results would be coming in "a couple minutes," which could mean a few minutes or sometime next week...

TIL that "imminent" means "more than an hour" in the Utah Democratic Party. Tick tock, tick tock...

This is just incredible! DNI Tulsi Gabbard wants to turn President Trump's daily intelligence briefings into a Fox News-style TV show because he doesn't read.

Election results at the Utah Democratic Party Convention are imminent. Stand by...

Vice chair candidate Oscar Mata comes to the podium and says he's "fucking pissed." "I'm pissed that my daughter who was born last year will have less rights than her mother." Mata was recently elected to an at-large position on the Democratic National Committee.

Ben Peck is the last paty chair candidate to take the stage. He gets a HUGE ovation from the crowd. "I am a Democrat because I believe government officials should not be able to tell me what books I can read or what medical procedures I can have done."

Party Chair candidate Jonathan Lopez blasts King for losing Salt Lake County and Summit County in last year's gubernatorial election, "Some of the most Democratic areas in the state." He also points out King spent $400k on political consultants in that race.

More King: "Republicans are serious about hurting people, and we need to be just as serious about protecting them. Utahs are fed up and they're looking for a change. They're looking for something that makes sense that's honest and that doesn't sound like a descripted by some DC consultant."

Brian King is up next. He says Utah "needs a Democratic Party that doesn't whisper its values." "We have too much talent to be losing to a party that thinks libraries are public enemy number one!"

Chair candidate Archie Williams is up first. He chides Democrats because they don't win elections. "We gotta try something different, or we're going to get more people like (Spencer) Cox and (Mike) Lee who are going to take all your rights away."

In his welcome address, Jeremy Thompson, Chairman of the Weber County Democrats, takes a huge swipe at Democrats in Congress and Donald Trump. "We need leaders who don't just send strongly worded letters to a president who doesn't read." He also attacks "silcon-faced oligarchs."

It's Utah State Democratic convention day at Ogden H.S. The party's "issue and identity caucuses", which include education, healthcare, LDS and rural, are meeting right now ahead of the formal convention, which gets underway at 11. The main convention will be livestreamed on YouTube.

Greetings from Ogden HS. I’m here covering the 2025 Utah State Democratic convention. Come find me and I’ll give you one of my fancy Utah Political Watch stickers (while supplies last).

Utah lawmakers said they won't revisit the pause on gender-affirming care for minors, even though their own study showed it led to positive mental health benefits. Also, House Speaker Mike Schultz praised a Make America Healthy Again Commission report that cited non-existent research.

Well, that's probably the final nail in the coffin for Sen. Mike Lee's chances of being nominated to the Supreme Court...
