Lol just heard the NPR story about the DOGE guy who lost his job when he said he was surprised at how hard it was to find inefficiencies in the federal govt because he came from Silicon Valley where companies always have lots of people sitting around doing nothing

I have loved Duolingo and used it religiously for five years to study Spanish. But it is definitely going down hill — increasingly filled with design missteps, negative reinforcement, and aggressively pushing users towards features no one asked for.

Is someone gonna make an AtProtocol version of Facebook that can help me share photos of kids and holidays, with grandma and friends etc. I do think we're reasonably safe from being enshittified in the short to medium term. But, so far, it's a good replacement for twitter, not so much facebook.

Its just fascinating to me that Medicaid fraud is treated like its SNAP fraud or benefits fraud when its one of the few welfare cases in which the person doesn't receive the cash from the government, the -provider- does, but all of the cuts are -patient- centric

I’m re-reading the Expanse novels and I need to vent. Nothing “weighs 100 kilos at one gee.” It masses 100 kilos at ANY acceleration. Make up whatever you want about aliens or fusion drives. But a kilogram is a fucking SI unit and, hello, it is a unit of mass. Thanks for coming to my TED talk
