Hey, local (western ky) friends! I'm gonna be on Coalfield Comments tomorrow at 8:30am on WTTL 106.9. Give it a listen!

this is one of those things i always forget people don’t know: upon release, many formerly incarcerated people are obligated to pay back fees associated with their incarceration as a condition of their release

Excellent thread.

Chilly day, beautiful walk. Ponds like Andrew Wyeth paintings.

Since lettering is on my mind today, I can't recommend a discussion on it more highly than I would @imemi.bsky.social's presentation at CXC 2023. There's little if anything that I'd say about lettering that she doesn't cover here.

Trying something - put some EVA foam clay on my pen and put it in my hand to get my natural non-squeezin' shape. When it's dry I'll hit it with a coat of spray rubber and see if I can't slide it on and off. I ain't getting any younger, and hand troubles only get worse when they find purchase.

I've found that my best no-shadows-on-the-art lighting is to have one of my two desk lamps low and to the left of my (I'm right handed), but that means the bulb is right by my eye. I put a piece of red cellophane over the half not casting light on the page and it's much easier on me.

Boy have I missed/do I love hand-lettering. I stopped for a while both because my lettering is pretty wide and it was a space concern, and because I reckoned it took too long, but man alive I do love it. It ain't perfect but that's okay, it's me and it suits my art.

I think I'll keep coming back to look at this as long as the internet survives. This is maybe the most beautiful sword and most beautiful rendering of said sword ever. Sideswords/sabers are so beautiful

Living in a more rural area with a lower cost of living means I can do comics and art full-time. It also means I'm very reliant on the post office to receive stuff I can't purchase locally. Not only would Trump's plans make it untenable to live here, it would also kill MY business - Patreon, etc.

I already ship at cost meaning I charge less in shipping than it actually costs. Without the USPS, rates skyrocket. For example, a 3-4 book order instantly goes from 9$ to 37$ (4x!!) or more AND some addresses become undeliverable AND delivery will be much slower. This is catastrophic. Please call.

Since Goran got this going, here are a few of my favorite live-action character designs, too

Rick Spinrad, the former head of NOAA, shares the immense value that his organization brings, for the wild and crazy cost of... $0.06 per day.

This thread fills my little loves-to-see-formal-things-quantified heart
