If you are hosting a session at #AAG2025 that is solely for participants in Detroit please consider making it hybrid. The meetings team is still willing to make that change now. Sessions that are exclusively in person are only accessible to some conference participants and exclusionary for others.

The folly of cutting national climate intelligence in any way amid an escalating climate crisis is almost unimaginable ...

Past GHG emissions from the Carbon Majors will result in multi-century sea level rise, & amount of SLR would have been far less had emissions been phased out earlier "Every delay...is going to come with long-term consequences" @scienceshaina.bsky.social www.thenewlede.org/2025/03/past...

Deeply, deeply concerning. May I ask my American friends to consider making conferences hybrid as a rule. www.lbc.co.uk/world-news/d...

🔥⚖️🌐 here is a hot take by Roda Verheyen, the lawyer who led the legal strategy in #SaulvsRWE, regarding the significance of the case and of the expected decision for pending and future #ClimateLitigation. 🙌 #MakePollutersPay

ICYMI I wrote about the verdict was unlikely to land in Greenpeace's favor due to how unfair the trial proceedings were, according to independent trial monitors who observed what happened in the courtroom oneearthnow.substack.com/p/greenpeace...

A dangerous and disturbing verdict. Solidarity with Greenpeace.

📢 @ucsusa.bsky.social analysis links nearly half of temperature rise and one-third of sea level rise today to emissions from 122 fossil fuel producers and cement manufacturers. Polluters must be held accountable for delayed action causing global impacts for generations to come. #MakePollutersPay

Very happy to see this awesome paper out by @marlenkolbe.bsky.social and my @dmidk.bsky.social colleagues (including @martinstendel.bsky.social) on atmospheric rivers in Antarctica and implications for melt and precipitation. link.springer.com/article/10.1...

🆕 Peer-review research finds GHG emissions traced to 122 largest fossil fuel & cement companies 🛢️ (the 'Carbon Majors') contributed to roughly half of surface warming & 1/3 of sea level rise to date, & will result in 10-22 inches add'l SLR 🌊 by 2300 Full study iopscience.iop.org/article/10.1...

❄️ 🧪 Very excited to boost this new paper, led by the amazing @scienceshaina.bsky.social, connecting present and future sea-level rise to industrial fossil fuel and cement producers. Check out the thread below 👇

🚨New paper🚨 We attribute present day air temperature and sea level rise, as well as future projected sea level rise to the Carbon Majors, the 122 largest industrial fossil fuel and cement producers…more details below! iopscience.iop.org/article/10.1... 1/n 🧪 #scicomm #ClimateSky #ClimateChange

Mask bans already exist in certain States and counties. Vance spearheaded a federal ban on mask mandates. Organizing to codify the right to wear medical masks and respirators is (sadly) needed. Masking is community care and resistance. Illinois attempting to codify right to mask into law:

I second this proposal

Is the @geographers.bsky.social #AAG2025 meeting platform down for other folks as well? I haven't been able to log in in a few days.

Listen, this is why you wear a mask in medical settings. You wear a mask whether it’s mandated or not, whether staff does or not, whether you’re knowingly sick or not. Protect vulnerable people who have NO CHOICE but to be there. Don’t spread disease asymptomatically or pre-symptomatically. Mask.

There are dazzling natural details waiting to be noticed every time you step outside. I love to look closer at these mossy little worlds. They look like strange landscapes from faraway alien worlds, yet they’re all over my backyard. 🌿

They will kill or disable you for profit. The “let it rip” approach isn’t limited to COVID, which has killed >1M Americans. 4M can’t work due to long COVID disability. 6M kids have LC. It’s not over. This admin loves “let it rip” and abandoning folks who get sick or disabled. Those folks are YOU.

This is not “efficiency” and “cutting waste, fraud, and abuse”. This is FASCISM! Plain and simple. Cutting the people’s ability to learn and be informed is a key way fascists take over. WE WILL NOT STAND FOR THIS!

I'm really looking forward to this panel. I'll be talking about the intersections of climate change and pandemics, and sharing about local disability justice organizing. Five years into the ongoing covid pandemic this conversation is desperately needed & I'm grateful it is happening at #AAG2025. 😷

This is McCarthyism in action. Fascism starts with culling the educated class and the protestors. It’s to create terror and cowardice instead of solidarity and resistance. The playbook is known. Lessons from history are critically important for the US now.
