Sixth book of 2025 completed—I listened to Meryl Streep’s reading on Spotify and was enamored. This book feels comfy and cozy, lime Gilmore Girls but a very different story. Having finished it I feel the tinge of heartbreak. Five stars! Book 6 of 12? in 2025: Tom Lake, by Ann Patchett #books #read

My lab @ruvvyresiliencelab.bsky.social is raising money to send 6th graders to Brain Day on @buymeacoffee! 🎉 For just $23, you can send a student to Brain Day for an afternoon of hands-on neuroscience-inspired activities! You can support this initiative here — t.co/AmK19ERUaC #BrainDay #STEM

Stand up for science in Boston, March 7, 2025, 12-4pm

I just called my reps with @5calls.org, you should too: 5calls.org Make your voice heard! Today I discussed NIH and NSF cuts with my lawmakers. I shared my unique story, as well as talked about the health and economic impacts of these cuts.

Fifth book of 2025 completed—part as an audiobook and part the hard copy because I couldn’t wait long enough for my monthly Spotify listening allotment to turnover! It brought me to tears reading about Gilmore Girls, and I loved the wise words Kelly Bishop shares at the end of her whirlwind memoir

If you couldn't join us live for Dr. @neurozabik.bsky.social's talk, or you thought it was so helpful you want to listen again, you can now watch/listen for FREE here! adaa.org/webinar/prof... Share with a friend/colleague/student who may benefit :) #TimeManagement #SelfManagement #Management

Psychedelic Brain Science & BrainSTEM podcast bring you a VERY important midnight episode drop!! Science Under Threat: NIH funding cuts and the future of research ft @hmarusak.bsky.social & @brainsbeesbikes.bsky.social !! open.spotify.com/episode/5WTk...

I’m thrilled to be a part of the outstanding 2025 class of Early Career Policy Ambassadors! Being a #NeuroAdvocate feels especially empowering right now. I’m read to get to work to fight for scientific research and adequate funding. Thanks so much to Society for Neuroscience for this opportunity.

Another lighthearted break: Celebrating Galentine’s with my mom and grandma tonight, and we’re all in a group chat right now fighting about who is paying the bill. We’re all trying to preemptively pay for dinner, and my grandpa who isn’t even attending is fighting to treat all of his Galentine’s 🥹

New newsletter out this afternoon from our lab! We talk about maternal mortality and morbidity in the United States, and how we can save lives through the Momnibus legislation at the federal and state levels. Read more here: Protecting Mom brain-blooms-newsletter.beehiiv.com/p/protecting...

Something lighthearted for everyone’s feed, some thoughts while watching Gilmore Girls I think Rory’s journalistic peak was in her junior when she wrote the parking lot piece for the Franklin. It was all downhill from there w the exception of the ballet review 🙃 Unpop opinion: Mitchum was right 🤦🏽‍♀️

Welcome to the Bluesky account for Stand Up for Science 2025! Keep an eye on this space for updates, event information, and ways to get involved. We can't wait to see everyone #standupforscience2025 on March 7th, both in DC and locations nationwide! #scienceforall #sciencenotsilence

JUST IN: Federal judges orders HHS, CDC, and FDA to restore “by no later than 11:59 pm” today their websites and datasets to pre-January 30th status. storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...

Update: every printer I have tried to print the exams on has failed in some capacity. Some of the exams are printed on random pastel-colored paper. I feel like I am in full-blown chaos mode 😂🧠 I think my vibe as an instructor is Ms. Frizzle from Magic School Bus but 'Frazzled' instead

The first exam for the first ever class I’m teaching is tomorrow, and I had nightmares all last night about not finishing writing the exam on time, having my classroom moved, not having copies of the exam with me, etc. I guess some things never change even when you’re the professor! 😂

Going to pottery tonight. . . It’s debatable whether that’ll actually make me feel “better” since I struggle so much with centering in the wheel, but it sure will be a great physical outlet for my anger and frustration! Feeling emotions is ok, and arts and movement techniques can help to do so!

The solution to a bad morning? An afternoon working on the couch with a puppy, tea, ice cream, and Gilmore Girls. A wise woman once told me “only you can make yourself have a bad day”. I’m choosing where to focus my energy and moving forward ✨✨✨

🎉We are hiring 1-2 postdoctoral fellows in my lab (webbslab.com) to work on NIMH/NCCIH-funded projects focused on the causes and treatment of depression in teens. Please RT and share! Apply⬇️ webbslab.com/job-postings

The FDA has scrubbed from its website guidance on conducting medical trials with representative numbers of men/women and racial/ethnic minorities. these aren't symbolic issues. Drugs affect men/men, people with different genetic backgrounds differently. talkingpointsmemo.com/edblog/medic...

The AFNI bootcamp I was going to participate in to further refine my fMRI data processing and analyses skills was cancelled. A completely non partisan and non DEIA related activity. Simply giving scientists important skills for rigorous and reproducible neuroimaging research.

They are cutting funds and domains that mention Indigenous Knowledge and People 🤬

Fellow scientists, please consider speaking w/ media about what this means for "regular Americans." The link below is to contact a reporter who's collecting stories about the unfolding NIH situation - pls share anonymously or on record. @anniewaldman.bsky.social www.propublica.org/people/annie...

Switching over now, and it’s so easy to import your Goodreads data so your book history is preserved!

Fourth book of 2025 completed—I was planning to read this in Italy, but it was so good I finished it before even leaving. A completely unexpected historical mystery; left me crying with its message of female strength and perseverance. Boon 4 of 12? in 2025: The Sicilian Inheritance, by Jo Piazza

Ummmmm there’s a listening limit in this that resets monthly?!?! I’m ok with this, because I am hoping it’s a mechanism so folks don’t take advantage of the audiobooks in a way that their subscription dollars are essentially worthless to authors, but major bummer to find out in the middle of a book!

Third book of 2025 down—and my first audiobook! The fact that this was set in Northern Michigan (and that I could listen free with Spotify subscription) was all that kept me trudging through the numerous cliches 😅 we all need something fun in life Book 3 of 12? in 2025: Funny Story, by Emily Henry
