Federal and taxpayers money is going into informing the public and scientific community on public health. Preventing sharing of this information is wrong and stupid. This information must be out there and philanthropic funding will have to step in.

Firing is not nice, but it is an inevitable part of business operations. That includes firing for performance. And that's OK. What is not is letting employees go while telling everybody that they did not meet your performance standards. That damages careers.
