Great white egret through the mist, on the Clyde today near Carstairs along with a little egret, second little egret Clyde below Covington. #Clydebirding #Scottishbirding

Been filtering through 1000' s of pinks all winter and apart from a scattering of Barnies and a Taiga bean that's been it. Hoped that the birds staging north in the spring may drag something along with them. Bar-headed goose with c1200 pinks at Carstairs today, not quite what I was hoping forπŸ˜’

First spring queen buff tail bumble bee in the garden today, shame my phone camera (or user) cannot do better

Iceland Gull in Troon harbour this morning.

I see loads of pinkfeet with white bill blaze but rarely as extensive as this one at Douglas water today. Plumage tones also looked darker but bare parts pink. #Clydebirding #Scottishbirding

Decent scope views of the Gullane bay WW Scoter today but bridge camera struggled with the distance. Supporting cast of whimbrel, fulmar, puffin, gannets and GN diver #Lothianbirding #Scottishbirding #UKbirding

From the Marsh hide at RSPB Barons Haugh today, Jays are becoming more confiding due to the food put out by photographers. #Clydebirding #Scottishbirding #UKbirding

Pleased to have finally caught up with an old friend today off CP2 at Strathclyde Park, been trying and failing all winter. Could not have a better bird to hit my 100th in Clyde this year #Clydebirding #Scottishbirding #UKbirding

Year ticked a couple of πŸ¦†'s today, the drake ring-necked duck on Victoria Park pond and the American wigeon at Newshot Island Clydebank. Dipped the real target, the adult yellow legged gull that has showed at times on Newshot. πŸ˜•

Year ticked the drake smew at Broadwood Loch Cumbernauld today #Clydebiring #Scottishbirding

The Hamilton probable Siberian Lesser Whitethroat performing well today. #Clydeirding #Scottishbirding #UKbirding

A very distant great white egret on the Clyde below Eastfield Farm Pettinain today, also little egret and single shelduck. #Clydebirding #Scottishbirding

Aberrant plumaged drake Tuftie on the Clyde at Lamington yesterday #Clydebirding

Feedback on the ringed barnacle goose at Douglas Water 06/01/25. Ringed as juv 21/11/23,first re-sight since ringing, so still can't be sure if it's a Svalbard bird or originated elsewhere.

Cold weather movement produced a 1st winter scaup on Mainshill Quarry pond today, one of the few local water bodies not completely frozen over.

Often wonder where the increasing numbers of barnies I get scattered in the pinkfeet flocks in South Lanarkshire originate, Iceland, Svalbard or from the feral population. Eventually found a ringed bird 1 of a pair with c1300 pinks at Douglas Water, looks like a D&G bird from the Svalbard flock

Had one of the Lesmahagow hawfinches all to myself this afternoon , showing very well feasting on sloe seeds.

Ticked my first Clyde hawfinch near Lesmahagow yesterday, thanks to a great find by @daveleeritchie.bsky.social on New Years day.

Only managed 8 new UK birds in 2024 Myrtle warbler, Richards Pipit, Lesser spotted woodpecker, Bufflehead, Bridled tern, Black winged pratincole, Quail, and Great shearwater. Top birds for me got to be Bridled tern and Great shear, most difficult was lesser spot at 5th attempt

Distant great white egret in fading light, in a small drainage ditch in rough ground behind Medwin Pools Dunsyre late afternoon,

Caught up with the returning Belgian Med gull at Carpark 4 Strathclyde Country Park yesterday. Ringed in Antwerp June 2002 and fitted with now long lost green darvic 3LV5.
