It was 62 and sunny in Las Cruces today - in February. Reason number 372 why I moved here. Spending five weeks in a short-term rental while they put the finishing touches on my new house. Exploring locale is on the list for the next few weeks. The 1888 mile drive down I-5 and I-10 was worth it!

One more day on my road trip. 359 miles to go until I reach Las Cruces, NM where I am building a new house. It is my last move and I'm looking forward to the sun. Been on the road since last Sunday. Bit tired but my dog, Iggy has been a champ. In Mesa, AZ tonight. On the road tomorrow. Can't wait.

734 miles to go. Turns out, California hotels charge a LOT of money if you have a dog - between $150 and $500!!! Their ads say they are "pet friendly" but they don't mention the fee. Suffice it to say I've had to change my standards. But Motel 6 takes dogs :) Made it to Ontario. Las Cruces or bust!

Only made it to Tracy California yesterday. Had trouble finding a hotel that accepted Iggy. But it is near 70 and there are palm trees. Will stop tonight somewhere near LA. More than half way there now.

Only did 245 miles yesterday because Iggy was getting tired of riding in the car. Made it to Redding. Gonna be another light day today. I don't have any particular timetable so I'll take it slow but every mile south and east is a mile towards my goal. 1299 miles to go. #moving

I have no deadline to get to New Mexico. My new house is still being built. I take possession in early April. So I will be in an AirB&B for more than a month. Doing the drive easy/peasy. 344 miles yesterday to Roseburg. 1544 miles to go. Iggy is oblivious as long as he gets his treats! #roadtrip

My favorite Natl. Park is Grand Teton National Park. This pic is from my last visit 9 yrs ago (made while testing the Fuji XT-1 for a review I was writing.) I hope to go back one more time before I die. Amazing place. Stevie Wonder could make great photos there :) #PhotographersUnited #Monochrome

Clearing something up. I posted the fact that I turned in my Tesla MYLR even though I had a yr. left on my lease and I paid around $11k in penalties to do it. I've heard the "You are who you hang out with" and I don't hang with people who give siege heil salutes. But that's just me.

I was missing my old friend Robert O'Toole (who passed away this year from a heart attack) and I luckily found a pic he made of me back when we were co-leading a photo workshop at Kaflia Bay, Alaska. The coastal brown bear in the background is between me and the boat. I had to wait for him to leave!
