David Lynch gave us the language we needed to better articulate the indescribable strangeness of our shared reality. “Lynchian” is so overused because it’s a viscerally understandable word without any known synonyms. I can’t imagine a more beautiful artistic legacy than that.

Been reading a lot of picture books lately. Some of them are funny, but they seldom make me laugh. This little blink-and-you-miss-it gag from Mo Willems’ excellent Goldilocks and the Three Dinosaurs, however, literally had me laughing out loud.

TIL The Olympics held art competitions from 1912-48. This drawing, by Jean Jacoby, won the gold medal in 1928. It was Jacoby's second gold medal in a row, making him the most successful Olympic artist in history. Alfréd Hajós won gold medal in swimming and a silver medal in architecture.
