Arp 321. a compact group of five galaxies located in the constellation Hydra. It's a fascinating object for astronomers because these galaxies are in close proximity and interacting with each other. Processed Hubble data by Dr. Mehmet Hakan Özsaraç. www.flickr.com/photos/mhozs... 🔭 🧪

Red sprites are the perfect blend of science and nature, fleeting moments of beauty in our own atmosphere. Each red spear is an excited ion channel, several miles long and triggering 50 miles above some massive charge change in the clouds below. Our very own electric zoo, right above our heads.

Only managed a few snaps with the 🔭 on day 3 of astronomy week before the clouds rolled in. Here is the Orion nebula 😍

The Perseverance rover captured some pretty massive dust devils earlier today. That large one in the foreground was at least 500m high. #PlanetSci flic.kr/p/2qHbPLV NASA/JPL-Caltech/Simeon Schmauß

I can hear the theme music even with the audio muted! ❤️

Goofing around with maps tonight and used the NWS's seasonal snowfall analysis to show everywhere that's seen accumulating snow (or sleet!) since Sept. 30. It's one of the rare seasons we've seen snow in all 50 states.

Beautiful!!

"It's snowing in Florida - where's global warming now?!" If you've ever thought that (or heard anyone else say it), I have a Global Weirding episode for you!

Hands up everyone who zooms in on every picture posted with a bookshelf in the background to check out the books

I’m a scientist who studies how climate change impacts our lives and the places we love. Most of us are worried, but many feel stuck on what to do. If that's the way you feel, check out this list below! We can’t fix it alone, but I know we can together. 💚

We have a new member of our family.

Did your child lose their book collection in the Los Angeles fires? Are you a teacher at a school that lost its library or your classroom library? Whether you need one book or a whole library, we can replace your books. 📚 Everyone else, please boost this post so we can connect with those in need. 🙏

What turns a wildfire into a disaster, and where does climate change come in? I break it down here ...

First meteorite ever found in P.E.I. arrived with a literal bang - Last July, a doorbell camera captured the first meteorite impact to ever be recorded with both video & sound! #space #meteorite #Canada www.theweathernetwork.com/en/news/scie...

For the 4th year in a row, my all-sky camera has been taking an image of the sky above the Netherlands every 15 seconds. Combining these images reveal the length of the night changing throughout the year, the passage of clouds and the motion of the Moon and the Sun through the sky. #astrophotography

2024 was an amazing year for astronomical events across Canada. In particular, though, three made headlines like no other. #astronomy #solareclipse #auroras #comet www.theweathernetwork.com/en/news/scie... www.theweathernetwork.com/en/video/vxv...

More subject matter experts are becoming aware of the increasing amount of misinformation about Tunguska, cosmic airbursts, and planetary impacts. More are getting involved in setting the record straight.

Good morrow folks it is time for your periodic reminder that I have written a book which is silly, scientifically sourced, full of footnote jokes, and probably an excellent gift for some nerdy person in your life (maybe your own self!) 🧪🔭📚📖 www.iconbooks.com/ib-title/the...

Warnings are widespread for a rapidly strengthening low will that will bring in heavy rain and snow, as well as gusty and potentially damaging winds to parts of Atlantic Canada through Friday.
