If this accurately sums up the court's logic, this is nuts. Either the penalty for first degree murder is justified when there is one victim or it is not. In fact, you could push the logic in the other direction: when there is more than one victim, the penalty should be greater!

Ridiculous. The SCC struck it down, giving multiple concurent sentences to mass murders because that was too mean to racist spreeshooters like the QC Mosque shooter. And now the courts are using the result of that to decide this is unconstitutional.
