WTF did I just listen to!? That's not how wars work, or economics. That is not how anything works!

If I knew nothing about Canada except the promises from the three parties, I'd conclude that the federal government must have a large budget surplus and no pressing need to invest in productivity, infrastructure, or defense.

In the midst of unprecedented attacks on our sovereignty from a hostile and erratic foreign power, there are still people questioning whether we need to spend more on defence?!

There are 2 European 6th Gen fighter programs underway. Canada should think about joining one. theaviationist.com/2025/03/21/n...

The Conservatives continuing to harp on the carbon tax is feeling more and more like those japanese soldiers found on various islands in the 70's still fighting WWII. Except the Conservatives won their fight.

Pretty sure the Germans aren't doing this as economic stimulus, but out of an expectation that they may need tanks to defend against Russian aggression

I think the Germans think they could need some tanks over a relatively near time horizon, actually. Thats why they’re building tanks

BC: can I get some healthcare? BC Gov:

Tesla has lost a third of its value over the last month.

Not loving Carney's idea of doubling down on using defense spending as a regional development strategy, which is a big part of how defense procurement got to be such a mess

BC Conservatives' Freedom Caucus navigating the world's most obvious political traps

I really want the Canada High Speed rail to succeed. It would be a real benefit to the central Canada corridor. But the fact that no completion date was included in the announcement has me worried it's going to end up a Californiaesque boondoggle

How does a plane end up upside down on a runway?

I hate this style of progressivism Just embrace the flag 🇨🇦

Dirty secret of a lot of urban planning is that the evidence base for things that have huge material consequences are often slender: minimum lot sizes, height limits, floor area ratios, etc

This will never cease to amuse and infuriate me. Minumum parking requirements being calculated on basis of sample sizes of less than 10, samples so small you can't even calculate basic statistics. "Caution" indeed. Donald Shoup was such a necessary intellectual wrecking ball.

Rest in peace, Professor Shoup (1938-2025) We will keep up the good work. Share your stories and thoughts with the parking reform community here: parkingreform.org/donald-shoup

Damn, Rob Shaw isn't pulling any punches with this one. It's brutal on the government's gaslighting www.biv.com/news/comment...

I can’t think of a way to get me to more completely reject your candidacy than to have “Adam Vaughan” send me an email endorsing your housing plan

Neoliberalism is thrown around a lot. It is used correctly about 0.001% of the time it is mentioned on social media.

If Donald Trump is “neoliberalism”, then absolutely anything can be neoliberalism and that term has no meaning

If this accurately sums up the court's logic, this is nuts. Either the penalty for first degree murder is justified when there is one victim or it is not. In fact, you could push the logic in the other direction: when there is more than one victim, the penalty should be *greater*!

Ridiculous. The SCC struck it down, giving multiple concurent sentences to mass murders because that was too mean to racist spreeshooters like the QC Mosque shooter. And now the courts are using the result of that to decide this is unconstitutional.

Not sure the people that couldn't implement a simple tax change are equipped to handle the greatest geopolitical challenge the country has faced since WWII

Looking at Smoot Hawley and the Great Depression like

"Close look"? The environmental assessment of NYC congestion pricing alone is almost 4000 pages.
