This is a mistake, one which will surely be challenged in the Courts. The public interest test has been met and there are no apparent grounds for maintaining secrecy. In a post-COVID world, the release of public health data is a necessary anti-misinformation tactic.

Drink spiking is a sinister crime and I’ve been working to get the British Government to expedite a new standalone criminal offence to tackle it and extend it to the North. Delighted that the Justice Minister agrees and hope we can cut years off the time it would take the Assembly to do this.

Karen Cummings is the 25th woman murdered in NI since 2020, and the seventh woman this year. It is an outrage that our justice system is failing to protect women and girls from violent offenders. There will be a vigil for Karen at 6pm this Thursday in Marcus Square, Newry.
