Disabled women know more than most how blocking access to toilets isn’t a minor inconvenience - it’s a form of segregation from everyday life. It is turning down drinks with friends as you worry you can’t fulfil a basic human need if you go out. And knowing society has made the choice not to care.

For the London heads: know a community building that could do with solar panels to lower energy bills? Want to do some tree planting, or teach kids green skills? I discovered London councils are sitting on £130m+ that should be funding local climate action www.theguardian.com/environment/...

The final honor guard for Pope Francis included migrants, prisoners, transgender people, the homeless and others selected by the Vicariate of Rome as a symbol of the late pope’s mission of inclusion and outreach. Read more from the funeral: wapo.st/3YdDGqM

What an honor as a Clevelander to write a few words on the mighty David Thomas for NPR. Listening to Pere Ubu as a local hits different.

Glad to see all this discussion of community education. Just a reminder that I’ve made all of my course material — 40 classes, from methods to maps, knowledge infrastructures to local media, digital ethnography to digital urbanism — freely available for 20+ years :)

“He was a chameleon. He had no loyalty to any flag, ideology or country. If he worshipped anything, it was money. And that was perfect for the Iranians.” Tam Hussein writes on how Tehran is leveraging Europe’s criminal underworld as tools for covert statecraft.

“The court asked politicians and activists not to weaponise its decision for political gain. Moments after it was published, however, some politicians and activists did exactly that.” www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

Gonna repost this again for the people in the back. Look at the shame on the guy she’s addressing. Don’t be that guy.

For National Library Week, we can't recommend enough @shannonmattern.bsky.social's 2014 essay "Library as Infrastructure." A decade on, it remains a potent argument for libraries as social, technological & intellectual infrastructure — part of a critical network of institutions buoying public life.

Now you can buy 800g of memes in your local store…

“I think Mr Trump learned to do business in the New York mafia-influenced real estate market & that his tactics are based on extortion – you hit & keep hitting for as long as you do not get a good price for stopping. Showing your muscle, it seems to me, is the way to transact with him & his people.”

“I was quite terrified with that interview but it was an important one. Because he would talk about how it's [the film] so manipulative & I think that's really crucial. Every film, every documentary, is a manipulation.” The incredible @carolmorleyfilm.bsky.social in @manchestermill.bsky.social

“while in New York our corporate tax rate is 7.25 percent, the corporate tax rate of New Jersey, the radical socialist utopia across the river, is 11.5 percent” Superb interview format and responses… (only bested by Tom Hollander’s legendary A Day In The Life)

I understand why council leaders fancy their chances but this is such a weird idea. The mayor of London already has (arguably) less real power than any of those council leaders because London boroughs are so autonomous. www.londoncentric.media/p/the-plan-t...

🧵 I've been reviewing many of the past year's US & European military & intelligence assessments of how long it would take Russia to rebuild its military capability and the timeline on which any threat to NATO could unfold. A brief thread below which summarises these assessments.
