If you were an element, what would you be? I think carbon when it comes to curiosity, but argon when it comes to certain relationships. Maybe molybdenum.

It’s like dreams are travels in the deep labyrinth of the mind, and you can take along a spool of string to recover some taste of what went on in them - some moment, that the mind can rebuild into a story - but if the string breaks, it’s lost until you dream that path again. If you ever do…

I do lucid dreaming. Inception dreaming (and I swear I dream in color, and can feel). And normally I can remember what I was dreaming, but I was woken abruptly today in the middle of an only mildly interesting dream, and can’t remember a whit of it. I didn’t have time to build the key back.

I randomly collect books of poems. Found this last night in a used bookstore in Santa Fe (almost bought a book of classic Yoruba poetry too, but the pricetag was just too high). This is pure self-indulgence. Love of the things indescribable, described. Remembering Anna Akhmatova, diving deeper.

By treaty, noncitizens have the right to contact their nearest consulate for assistance when detained. Mexico, however, is not a country that gets mandatory notifications, so it falls to the individual detainee to invoke the right.

Santa Fe at Christmastime is magical, every year. And crowded. But in so many ways New Mexico is the home of my heart, with the mountains and the stunning vistas and the food I grew up on, backgrounded by beautiful Jazz.

I’m enjoying Laufey so much lately. I think one thing that tickles me is that I was introduced to her first by my “rat pack” of sophomore boys, and then the next day by a senior girl in a different class, and her music is just so classic (and has Apple suggesting other classics like Herb Ellis)

Just finished reading “The Pairing” by Casey McQuiston, while having Laufey play over and over in my head. I love this book so much. And I’m bad about falling in love with books, but this one is so damn rich I wish I could be there (though Europe would probably be dangerous to my garlic-hating body)

My pastor today called Mary a punk 😂 for the Magnificat, which he said could only be written by a teenager. A punk, a hippie… but a prophet, who proclaims the overthrow of the powerful and the coming of freedom to the oppressed. God breaks in, not to support the establishment, but to radicalize us.

Thankful this morning to be a part of a group of worshipers that proclaim that the message of God is for All people, All creation ❤️

Brilliant and very useful! I fully support this, spread it around!

Sitting here on youth night. A couple who is moving out of state came and donated a table, chairs, and a bunch of blankets, so of course… they made a blanket fort. One asked if the blanketopia citizens wanted snacks. Just queer kids, being happy. Why we do what we do ❤️ brings me joy every time.

I’m binge listening to Kat Richardson’s “Greywalker” series right now, up to Seawitch. Fav line so far… “I… sometimes… have disagreements with reality… and… physics.”

Justice delayed was justice denied.

Tim Walz needs a podcast to help get us through the next 4 years. Do you agree?

In the replies to this post I'll be writing up summaries of the main points raised by Susan Sawyer, Danielle Einstein, Lucy Thomas, and Nicola Palfrey during the Inquiry into the Online Safety Amendment Bill. #auspol #youthmentalhealth #socialmediaban

Someone called this mass exodus from Twitter ‘the fall of the Broman Empire’ and I died laughing. 💀

Well, we made the news. #trans #bathroom abcnews.go.com/US/transgend...

I recently read a paper by Kleshnina and others and used it to teach myself some evolutionary game theory techniques. This is a little obscure, so I'll thread below about why this topic matters for humans and the environment 🧵 nadiah.org/2024/11/20/k...

Today I decided to give a “twist” to the traditional “what are you thankful for” assignment, and have them write about why people are thankful for THEM. After all, they are tired and ready for break… and one girl was like, “is this because teenagers have low self-esteem?” I mean, maybe… ❤️

We got several notes from students/parents through the PTO today. This is the one that touched me most deeply.

Brazilian ex-President Jair Bolsonaro has been indicted over alleged knowledge of a coup plot to kill his successor and overturn the election results. #spookconnections

“From Ahmed to Zain.” Al Jazeera tallied by name some of the at least 17,400 children who have been killed in Gaza. 435 were named Ahmed. 935 were named Mohammed. 710 were babies. 1,793 were toddlers. 7,900 were younger than 12.

Post a non-religious photo you think of as holy

Miss painting. This week has been loooong and I have been tired. Hopefully tomorrow I can dig into things more… the more I paint the more the images in my head get excited that I might get them out on canvas.

Did an interview yesterday about the bathroom crap and now I wished I’d recorded us 😂 I hope they do a good job.
