DOGE is like if Fyre Festival was a government agency.

Late to the party again (surprise!) But right now I am reading this glorious 1995 totally not an x-file knock off where not-Scully is an airforce captain trying to solve a UFO mystery surrounded by buff dudes in uniform. Utterly glorious trash. #PretendPanel ##WritingCommunity #NZWrites

Mōrena! Please enjoy this glorious badge scored from a friend's garage sale at the weekend. Rust spots show it has already farted its way through one Trump presidency. Clearly it has resurfaced because it knows it's needed again! #UnicornFartsAgainstTrump

Saw a CD tower on display out the front of an antique store today and let me tell you I don't like that at ALL

Chocolate hearts, fudge, candles, and... crabs? I have questions about your valentines gift suggestions Whitcoulls! #valentines #crabs #UnwantedGifts #HeIsCuteTho

Fuck (and I cannot stress this enough) all the way off. #GetOutOfMyMessagesMeta #NOPE #OptingOut #ZucOff

Y'all in here complaining about AI summary inaccuracy, but Google made me a best seller, and I'm in no hurry to correct them! #winning #ThanksRobotOverlords #GoogleSaysImCool

The fact I'm posting this at 11pm is an answer in itself. Mornings can get in the bin. #NZWrites

It's funny cos it's truuuue! 😂😂😂

I lived and worked as a journalist in Oamaru where Never Trust a Penguin is set, long enough to learn it's spoopy and haunted AF. Like Ghost Bus, it's a mixture of fantasy and real events. Have been away long enough to both miss it and feel safe(ish) that I won't be run out of town with pitchforks!

Phase 1 - ideas scribbled in a notebook wherever I have them. On the bus, in the garden (they're scruffy notebooks) at the kitchen table... Phase 2 - typing ideas up into stories. My study, in front of the telly or Johnsonville Library to get my arse out of the house. #NZWrites #WhereDoIWrite?

I challenge you to find something better than this on the internet today! #SeeYaLaterAlligator

A definite trigger for Ghost Bus was requests for writers to document Covid as we were 'living an historical event'. I was all "get bent. I'm running as far from reality as I can and taking y'all with me. You will have ghosts and angry statues, and if you don't like it, tough!" It was v therapeutic

If a cat wants something all it has to do is stand in the middle of a room and start meowing loudly and someone will actually come by and try to figure out what it wants. It is unfair I cannot do this

Don’t say it 😂😂

Little sis gave me this many moons ago when I was all about the Tweeters. Never dreamed a kitshy mug would wind up a historical artifact! #RIPTwitter #TheyDidNotKeepCalm #ItDidNotCarryOn

Never Trust a Penguin - a series of spooky short stories set in Oamaru. It has were-penguins, zombie tourism, ghost hunting and stone carver with a dark secret among other goodies. Similar vibe to my earlier collection Ghost Bus - Tales from Wellington's Dark Side. #NZWrites #Booksky

Finally got the set! It's been a hot minute since I read the (awesome) Dawnhounds. Do I need a re-read? I know, I'll ask the author! (Paging @understatesmen.bsky.social) Badge also strategically placed badge in front of Drake LaMarque's very queer books! #DrinkWaterAndReadQueerBooks #BookSky

Excellent tip! The fonts you use for your headings do more than make your work look pretty. The 'styles' menu (where H1, H2, H3 etc live) is an unsung hero. You can tweak them with (accessible!) fonts and formats you want - it's the heading number that help people who can't see them like you x

Roumd 😍

May I offer you a perfectly borbalicious bird friend in these trying times? I believe this is the roundest bird I have ever photographed. #birds #borb 🌿

Start learning about menopause way earlier than you think you need to. I mean all of you, whatever bits you have. It will save your sanity and your relationships. No one told me it could be a 10 year plus process that can start in your late 30s - yet here we are.

Thread: day late to the party so double-whammy answer. I'm Anna - laugh or I'll cry - Kirtlan. I write a mix of sci-fi, horror, fantasy and humour, as well as non-fic about sailing, mental health and neurodiversity, I live in Whanganui-a-tara Wellington and you can find me at annakirtlanwrites.nz

Quoted in an article as "local author" - achievement unlocked! I'm at the end waffling about Welly City Library's awesome Book Club Kete initiative, and the lines about digi books and accessibility are me too. #LocalAuthor #Booksky #LookMumImFamous! www.stuff.co.nz/nz-news/3605...
