One final time: I am on the post-doc market! I have primary interests in pol. ID motivational explanations for misinfo and hostility towards DEI. I have a lot of work in closing stages, and a lot of future ideas for great work that would be a strong addition to a lab. Please share far and wide!

Thank you @lkfazio.bsky.social for covering this and a huge thanks to @shaunambowes.bsky.social for inviting me to be a part of such an amazing symposium this year! #SPSP2025

Not going to let Nashville snow get in the way of chairing my first SPSP symposium on conspiracy belief this Saturday! Come see our talks on conspiracy belief strength, conspiracy theorists, and more!

Re-upping this once more before the conference. I’ll be presenting some work on the relationships between conspiracy mentality, counterfactuals, and free will/det beliefs on Saturday at SPSP! Come by, listen, say hello! Also, I’m on the market, looking for post-docs - keep me in mind!

The thing with Bluesky is: where am I supposed to bookmark all the articles I have grand plans to read but never do?

Hey all - I’ll be giving a talk this year at SPSP that’s part of a symposium exploring novel work on conspiratorial beliefs. Would be great for anyone attending to come see me, alongside some other remarkable researchers!

Is anyone familiar with good measures of anti-democratic behavior support?

Reporters: Please stop calling things DEI that are not DEI. This is only cementing the propaganda being used to legitimize the dismantling of all types of initiatives that are not DEI as well as legitimize efforts to end civil rights enforcement. Be specific with your language. Be accurate.

This multi-year, multi-country analysis shows that right-wing populist politicians spread more online misinfo than their mainstream counterparts and explains how “the rise of political misinformation is associated to the recent wave of radical-right populism.” journals.sagepub.com/doi/full/10....

"A study of federally funded research projects in the United States estimated that principal investigators spend on average about 45% of their time on administrative activities related to applying for and managing projects rather than conducting active research" www.pnas.org/doi/10.1073/...

This is presuming the "result" is a good grade in the assessment, whereas the result should be the learning and understanding itself. How we re-centre that is the big question.

Any folks in my network, especially those who have left academia, willing to provide feedback on my resume? Given my lack of professional experience over the past 4.5 years, any advice on how to best frame my PhD experience to maximize my abilities is welcomed!

And I have now officially passed my dissertation proposal!

Proposing the dissertation today. Please send all your good wishes and luck!

As we continue to fight to preserve our ability to do evidence-based DEI work in organizations, let's remember who tends to be on the frontlines of that fight.

To the always helpful #altac community, what is the best advice for finding opportunities for our qualifications (ie. PhD in social psych)? I am beginning my venture into industry job applications and would appreciate any wisdom or advice!

Check out my recently published commentary where my collaborators and I discuss how those tapped to do DEI work is disproportionately placed on individuals with minoritized identities. We also briefly discuss how to improve this. www.cambridge.org/core/journal...

Any advice on identifying post doc funding sources? Being a first gen student, I have struggled most with finding funding sources.

I’ve got a lot of new followers, so I wanted to introduce myself a bit! I’m a 5th year doctoral candidate, looking for post-docs. I am primarily an identity researcher, with a focus on how political identity affects misinformation belief, exacerbates polarization, and impacts DEI pushback.

Having now applied to about 25ish jobs, it’s as exhausting as warned. Just yesterday, I realized, in my exhaustion, that I made a minor mistake on one of my documents for a couple of applications. This process makes you ruminate on every little thing, with many anxious nights.

This has been my exact thought. I’ve got several ideas here, and would love to chat with others about potential collaborations on them. Misinfo has attitude/behavioral effects - we need to understand how much, and how to mitigate these effects. Great piece, @tspampatti.bsky.social !

Update: I am currently on the post-doc job market! My current line of research is primarily focused on the intersections of misinformation/DEI pushback, as conceptualized through political ideology. If you, or anyone you know, is looking, please let me know!

I have now officially applied for about 8 jobs. Let the stress begin.

Hi everyone! My first job application is due in about 2 weeks. Would any members of my community be willing to read and provide feedback on my research and teaching statements?

As I am finishing up my job market materials (primarily my teaching and research statements), do I have people who would be willing to give them a look over and provide feedback?

Hi all - I am on the market this coming cycle. Anyone willing to share tips/materials would be very appreciated! Open to teaching positions, post docs!

Does anyone know of any qualitative/mixed-methods work on either political violence or anti-democratic attitudes?

With SPSP just over a week away, it’s time to promote. Come check out my poster either at the Misinformation precon or the general conference!

Hi all! For those who bring on post docs, what do you look for in competitive applicants/candidates? What carries the most weight? Since I’ll be entering the market in the fall, I’m starting to figure out how to best improve my prospects.

Here I am, starting my dissertation proposal but the motivation is low. Can someone lend even a small portion to me? Thanks.

Is there an empirical word to explain establishing a pre-causal relationship, but from a blame-perspective? For example, during the 2020 election cycle, Trump often stated, “if I lose this election, then it is because Democrats stole/rigged it.” I am trying to find a literature on this.
