Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band present a once in a lifetime masterclass on Bretonnian positioning in Warhammer: The Old World Working On My Knight Moves.

I think Marvel COULD seize the moment, but only if they had the guts to enrage MAGA by taking a forgotten B-tier supervillain or vigilante and turning them into antifa resistance, a sympathetic rebel against the Nazi takeover. But they're corporate. They'd never get it past the studio execs.

This series is amazing. Absolutely worth your time.

*Discussing "design fiction" with some oligarchic billionaire's private AI really has a "design fiction darkside scenario" look-and-feel to it

Good posting today, everyone. Take a lap and hit the showers, tomorrow will be just as stupid.

This casts Nick Clegg’s efforts a few months ago in a dark light…

It's time to call it. AI is built on a house of cards of intellectual property violations starting with Facebook which is starting to look a lot like a crime scene as held back discovery documents begin to be compelled and unsealed in court. /1

There's a lot going on right now, but this story from @dell.bsky.social and @dmehro.bsky.social is horrifying. Basically, in contravention of its own policies, Google's ad technology allows clients to identify and target people identified as, say, struggling with opioid addiction or gambling debt.

If you’re wondering why I declined to talk to the NYTimes, then you haven’t been following my account for very long. They bear a direct responsibility for the current situation we find ourselves in, and I responded by laying out my position and that I would only talk to @jamellebouie.net

Our new investigation in @wired.com shows the danger of Google's huge RTB security problem We easily obtained Google RTB segment data about US national security personnel from a databroker -- despite posing as a foreign company that fetes Russian troops our fake website www.wired.com/story/google...

Under the ubergenius's Fortress America economic strategy, US innovation will become even more dulled (see car companies) by protectionism, and an increasingly unattractive consumer base becomes a dumping ground for crap. www.ft.com/content/2bc8...

This seems like a really good time to share an article I published back in 2018: "Four Crises in Algorithmic Governance." https://papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cfm?abstract_id=3650593 TLDR: when we let #AI & #algorithms make decisions that affect our rights & freedoms, we pave the road to fascism.

Finished the Baldur's Gate "House of Hope" fight last night. Did not expect the Raphael Rap.

As I begin to develop new projects for 2025, I realized my director's reel was long overdue for an update. So I spent some time poring through my 25 years of professional work, and I'm proud to present this new compilation of highlights: youtu.be/l0BJKaqkOMk

I'm excited to share with you all the cover of my next book, its details, and some lovely blurbs we've received from @chuck_wendig @rkadrey @claymcleod. The book will be released on October 7th (right in time for spooky season).

Don't post AI slop. And if you repost by mistake, as I've done, delete it. When you have something to say and attach AI art, you're undercutting your message and hurting artists. Pay or barter for art. There's a reason good things cost money and take time. AI art is harmful and it looks like ass.

Here is the ad the Washington Post refused to run about Elon Musk this weekend. And here is the ad the Post was happy to run by a rightwing group funded by Musk that smeared me in October. I started Democracy Docket to be fiercely independent and prodemocracy. Check it out. www.democracydocket.com

For one that has upheld the accountability principle in the GDPR for years, it costs to assure enforcement built on top of what is mentioned below. And where independence of those enforcement agents, call them supervisory or privacy protection authorities, is one of the toughest challenges of all
